The Signia Pure 2 IX Charge&Go in review
In the jungle of hearing aid variants, we want to provide you with some orientation and present another test report. Today, it's about a Signia model, specifically the Pure 2 IX Charge&Go. The amplification power is sufficient for mild to profound hearing loss, and the speaker arrangement being inconspicuous in the ear towards the eardrum results in quite decent sound quality. The Pure 2 IX Charge&Go is a rather discreet hearing aid at a reasonable price from the upper mid-range. It is worn behind the ear.
Hearing comfort
We all agree that speech understanding is the most important task of hearing aids. However, from our experience in the hearing acoustics specialty store, we also know that hearing comfort is at least equally important. It is about processing background noises so that they do not limit speech understanding, while still creating a natural sound image. In testing the Pure 2 IX Charge&Go, we found few options to influence comfort. Let's take a look at the individual features:
Of course, this Signia device has noise suppression, as this has become standard. Noise suppression means that uniform and rather monotonous sounds (e.g., air conditioning, vacuum cleaner...) are dampened. Here, a stronger noise reduction would be desirable, but that is reserved for higher-end hearing aids.
The impulse sound management is relatively simple; it dampens short loud noises a little, which is okay. This hearing aid can recognize wind noise, but the reduction is hardly noticeable. The Pure 2 IX Charge&Go has 12 adjustable frequency bands, which places it in the mid-range. A good acoustician can certainly extract a reasonable sound from it. The hearing aid can automatically focus on the speaker in front of it, but we do not receive much more support for spatial hearing from the Pure 2 IX Charge&Go.
Despite modern comfort features, there can still be tricky listening situations. For this, the Pure 2 IX Charge&Go has an assistance mode in its app. This features an artificial intelligence that analyzes the current environment and calculates a noticeably better setting.
Rating Hearing comfort: 3,8
Operation & connectivity
Although hearing aids are now very smart, they still cannot read the thoughts of the hearing aid wearer. Therefore, the automation sometimes reaches its limits. Individual adjustment options can be truly helpful, which is why we will briefly look at the options available with the Pure 2 IX Charge&Go: There is a button directly on the hearing aid. This allows you to change the volume or activate additional listening programs. It can be programmed according to customer preferences. Of course, using it is optional. A discreet way to change the hearing aid is via the remote control. It fits in any pocket. If the person you are speaking to is too quiet again, just one or two clicks are enough to adjust the volume. Additional listening programs for music or driving can also be activated with the remote control.
For some time now, there has been a trend to adjust hearing aids using voice commands. The idea is really good, but Signia has not yet reached that point with this device. Don’t worry, this feature would be nice but is not essential. In addition to buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids also have a tap control. This means you can simply tap your ear briefly to switch modes. However, we do not have that at Signia, as it would have required specific sensors.
The manual operation includes an app. This allows you to access the hearing aid discreetly. Besides volume control, you can also adjust listening programs and a few other functions. Problems when making phone calls with a smartphone are now a thing of the past with this device. Calls, music, and other sounds are completely transmitted wirelessly to the hearing aids. Headphones become unnecessary. We tested the wireless transmission during longer phone calls and for listening to music while exercising. Everything worked smoothly and seamlessly. Only a compatible smartphone with 2.4 GHz wireless technology is necessary.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 1,6

Simplicity & security
We continue our test and are trying to see how easy this hearing aid is to handle. After all, it should simplify the everyday life of hearing aid users and not complicate it further. When it comes to hearing, situational awareness makes life easier for us. In the Pure 2 IX Charge&Go, this is not quite as sophisticated. This means that the hearing aid can distinguish between quieter and louder environments and adjust accordingly. However, the challenging moments, such as loud conversations in a noisy backdrop, are not compensated as well. A key aspect of simplicity for us is the support during the acclimatization process. Especially after having heard poorly for years, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a natural volume. In our test device, there is an acclimatization manager that helps us with very small volume adjustments throughout the adjustment phase. After several weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.
Easy handling in everyday life definitely includes power supply. The Pure 2 IX Charge&Go has a built-in battery and can be recharged multiple times. Since a charge is sufficient for the whole day, we don't have to worry about the battery dying in the middle of a conversation.
The data sheet confirms that the Signia device has a certification according to IP protection class 68. This makes it one of the most durable hearing aids on the market. Dust doesn't stand a chance, and water does not penetrate the casing as long as it doesn't submerge deeper than 1.5 m. However, be careful. Shampoo, for example, alters the surface tension of water. You should also avoid saltwater. In everyday life, though, you can act carefree.

Extras
We are almost at the end, but perhaps this device still has a few gifts in the form of extra features? Let's take a look: Noteworthy is the tinnitus program. Those plagued by annoying ear noises will benefit from it. Pleasant, soft sounds are adjusted to gently surround the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus gets drowned out in the noise and is no longer intrusive.
We find the remote maintenance service exciting, which can be used if someone doesn't have the opportunity to visit the hearing care professional. Instead, they contact him through the app, briefly describe their hearing problem, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they download it into their hearing aids.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Signia model lacks the sensors for this service. This Signia hearing aid has no additional lifestyle options on board. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but these are not necessary for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
