The Signia Pure 7 IX Charge&Go in review

The Pure 7 IX Charge&Go from Signia is a small hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. By using the smart decision to place the speaker directly in the ear canal, very good sound transmission is possible. The Pure 7 IX Charge&Go is a hearing aid from the premium segment and is suitable for mild to profound hearing loss.

Hearing comfort

We all agree that speech understanding is the most important task of hearing aids. However, from our experience in the hearing acoustics specialty store, we also know that hearing comfort is at least equally important. It’s about processing background noise in such a way that it does not limit speech understanding while still creating a natural sound experience. When testing the Pure 7 IX Charge&Go, we were impressed by the excellent sound management. Let’s take a look at the individual features:

Of course, this Signia device includes noise suppression, as it has now become standard. Noise suppression means that uniform and rather monotonous sounds (e.g., air conditioning, vacuum cleaner ...) are dampened. Here, we have one of the most powerful noise suppression systems on the market.

Quick, clattering noises are noticeably and sufficiently dampened, which we find pleasant. The wind suppression is very solid and satisfies us in everyday life. A brilliant listening experience is also based on the number of frequency bands. The more bands there are and the narrower the individual frequency channels, the better the hearing aid can be adjusted to individual preferences. Here, we get as many as 20 bands. This not only creates a great sound impression, but also allows for very careful speech and noise suppression. Normally, a hearing person doesn't think much about spatial hearing. With this hearing aid, we also don't have to. A sophisticated system of directional microphones and bilateral wireless networking generates a 3D effect that comes very close to natural hearing.

Despite modern comfort features, tricky hearing situations can still arise. For that, the Pure 7 IX Charge&Go has an assistance mode in its app. It contains an artificial intelligence that analyzes the current environment and calculates a noticeably better setting.

Rating Hearing comfort: 1,3

Operation & connectivity

Most functions are activated automatically by this Signia model. However, it can be quite useful to have the option to expand the functionality a bit further. In our tests, we found out what options we have here. A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can adjust the volume up or down in several levels. Additional programs for special listening situations can also be activated this way. Those who prefer to do without the button can simply have it deactivated. Anyone who doesn't like to touch their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for convenient and discreet adjustments to the hearing aid.

We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional function. For example, we would have liked to see a voice control feature here. However, this is currently not available in the Pure 7 IX Charge&Go. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of the finger, without the need to press an extra button. This feature has not yet been implemented here.

Operating the Pure 7 IX Charge&Go is relatively simple via the associated app. It offers a lot of additional functions and has impressed us quite a bit. We particularly enjoyed using the equalizer in our tests. As a person with normal hearing, one might feel a bit envious since such features are not yet found in wireless headphones. The Pure 7 IX comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows us to enjoy binaural phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over people with normal hearing. We find this great and are happy to award points.

Simplicity & security

Of course, we are also interested in how quickly one can cope with the Pure 7 IX Charge&Go and how easy it is to use daily. The Pure 7 IX Charge&Go performs really well in situation recognition. For those who desire a comprehensive and powerful fully automatic hearing aid and want as little manual adjustment as possible, this is the perfect choice. The adaptive algorithms untangle the individual sound events in the environment and present the soundscape clearly and precisely. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It raises the starting volume in very small increments until my hearing goal is reached. This significantly eases the adjustment to the new sound.

A great relief in everyday life is the integrated battery. With this, my Pure 7 IX Charge&Go always has enough energy for the whole day, and I no longer have to worry about the batteries suddenly running out in the middle of an event. Even with limited dexterity, a battery system is very helpful because it eliminates the need to insert small button cells.

The data sheet certifies the Signia device with an IP protection class 68 rating. This makes it one of the most robust hearing aids on the market. Dust stands no chance, and water cannot penetrate the housing, as long as it isn't submerged deeper than 1.5 meters. However, please be cautious. Shampoo, for example, alters the surface tension of the water. You should also avoid salt water. In everyday life, however, you can behave completely carefree.

Extras

At the end of our test report, there is still a bit of space for the extra features: We were really impressed by the optional tinnitus program. There are a relatively large number of people who are occasionally or frequently troubled by a ringing or hissing in their ears. The tinnitus program in the Pure 7 IX Charge&Go is actually nothing more than a sound generator. It is designed to produce broadband noises or sounds that gently and pleasantly stimulate all hearing areas. The tinnitus fades into the background and is no longer perceived as disturbing.

A clever tool is the integrated remote service. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a precious commodity. Therefore, such a remote service is absolutely appropriate. If someone needs a new programming of their hearing aids, they can easily contact the audiologist through the app and describe their hearing preferences. Through a cloud service, the professional can then send an individual setting as a data package to the app. From there, it is loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tried out immediately. This definitely deserves extra points in our test.

Special sensors in the Signia Pure 7 IX Charge&Go offer entirely new insights into your health status. For example, at the end of a day, you can check how many steps you’ve taken. By the way, you don’t even need to have your smartphone with you while on the go. You only need to take a look at the app to read the data. The device from Signia focuses on the essential hearing functions and does not offer extras like voice assistants or translation features. While that could have been fun, it is not required for a good listening experience.

Rating Extras: 1,8

Conclusion: Signia Pure 7 IX Charge&Go

Our conclusion for this hearing aid is very positive: Here we have a small technological marvel that has impressed us in every way. Both the hearing comfort and the features for everyday use leave nothing to be desired. We are very pleased to award an overall grade of 1.31 and are confident that this device provides a great listening experience.
