It is a small mini hearing aid from the budget segment, suitable for moderate, stronger, and changing hearing losses. It is worn behind the ear. Due to the deep placement of the speaker in the ear canal, it has quite good acoustic sound properties right from the start.

Ideally, everyone would just want to hear speech and eliminate all other sounds. However, it’s not that simple. Without noise, our lives would sound very thin and empty. That is why hearing aids are designed to keep the sounds in check but not make them disappear.
With the Styletto 1 IX Slim RIC, we only find the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. The mandatory noise suppression is supposed to activate on anything that makes a fairly consistent noise, like the heating or the extractor hood. In this device, while we do have noise reduction, it is not very strong and is not adjustable further.
There is a basic wind noise reduction. Outside, this is quite useful, but it is not sufficient for stronger autumn winds. According to the manufacturer, there is impulse sound suppression integrated, but we could hardly notice it. We are far from experiencing 3D spatial sound here. Only the switchable forward focus offers a bit of hearing support in social situations. Let’s quickly take a look at the equalizer: with 8 bands, it is not particularly flexible. With a few more channels, we would surely have a nicer, more natural sound experience. But at least, we can already reasonably adjust the sound to our hearing sensation.
An additional tool for improving hearing comfort can be found in the Signia app. There, artificial intelligence uses the preferences of thousands of other hearing aid users to generate a tailored setting for a specific hearing situation.

Operation & connectivity
Since you likely don't have your hearing care professional by your side all the time, it's quite helpful to be able to make adjustments to the hearing aid yourself. There are various operating options, and we will look at which ones the Styletto 1 IX Slim RIC has. First, we are interested in whether there is a button on the device. Unfortunately, we are disappointed with the Slim RIC, as there is no immediate adjustment option. We do like the small remote controls, and we have found one for this model. This allows discreet adjustments to the volume or sound.
Voice commands are a relatively new way to operate hearing aids. However, this model does not yet have this option. That's not a big deal - the main thing is to be able to hear well. Another option for controlling the hearing aids is tap control. You simply tap your fingers on your ear, which triggers a specific function. But this Signia device does not have that option.
An app on the smartphone is supposed to make operation easier, and we have found one for the Styletto 1 IX Slim RIC as well. In addition to the basic functions like volume and programs, we find a few more buttons for personalization. The Styletto 1 IX comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows us to enjoy binaural phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over normal hearing individuals. We think that's great and are happy to give points.

Our test device features an acclimatization manager, which helps us with small volume adjustments throughout the adjustment phase. After a few weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.
The Styletto 1 IX Slim RIC is rechargeable and no longer requires hearing aid batteries. This is environmentally friendly, as there are no old batteries to dispose of. At the same time, it is also extremely convenient, as spare batteries do not need to be carried. The hearing aids simply go into the charging station in the evening and are ready to use the next morning.
The hearing aid has been classified in protection class IP68. This guarantees comprehensive protection against dust ingress. Water cannot easily harm the hearing aid either. Thus, it is well-equipped for outdoor activities where it can get wet and dirty. However, do not go swimming or bathing with the hearing aids. Bath additives or the salt content in seawater can alter the composition and ultimately cause damage.

The tinnitus fades into the general noise and no longer bothers you. It's a simple but effective tool and earns extra points from us.
Signia keeps up with the times and offers a future-oriented feature with the remote setting service. Busy people with little time can contact their audiologist online and have their hearing aids reprogrammed. Hearing aid users who have a longer commute to the specialist store also benefit from this special service.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Signia model lacks the sensors for this service. This Signia hearing aid does not have any additional lifestyle options onboard. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don't need those for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
