Unitron offers the B Insera 7 312, a hearing aid of very small size that is worn in the ear. It is a hearing aid at a rather high price and is suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss. The placement in the front part of the ear canal ensures that sound reaches the eardrum without losses.
Hearing comfort
First, we looked at the comfort features. The better these are, the easier and more pleasant the hearing experience becomes. This hearing aid offers the customer comprehensive noise management. The traditional noise suppression reduces uniform, insignificant sounds slightly. In the B Insera 7 312, the noise suppression is solid. There are hearing aids that have a significantly more effective reduction, but this one should be sufficient for normal demands. We are impressed with how effectively the wind noise is suppressed and how stable the device operates even in stronger winds.
Cracking, metallic noises don't stand a chance with this hearing aid; they are significantly dampened with a multi-stage tool. Spatial hearing is reliably supported by multifunctional microphones and is definitely practical. One of the most important evaluation criteria for hearing aids is the number of frequency bands. This determines the fine-tuning options. The B Insera 7 312 has 20 bands, providing the best conditions for achieving a precise sound result. Even in the following years, differentiated adjustments can be made again and again.
The signal processing is based, among other things, on typical frequency patterns of speech and noise, but artificial intelligence is not yet in use here.

Almost everyone of us owns a smartphone, so it begs the question whether it can be connected to the new hearing aid as well. Let's take a look at how connectivity and usability are with the B Insera 7 312. There is usually a button on the hearing aid, and we found one on the B Insera 7 too. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button and can also be deactivated if desired. A remote control is available for the B Insera 7 312. It's quite practical, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume up-down option as well as different listening programs.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For instance, we would have liked to see voice control at this point. But there is none in the B Insera 7 312 at the moment. Tap Control would have also been an interesting feature. With that, you could change the function with a quick tap on the ear. However, that is not available in the B Insera 7 312 yet.
It is very convenient to adjust the hearing aids via the app. There is a free app for the B Insera 7 312 as well. In our opinion, the functionality is average, but usually sufficient. It’s best to try it out beforehand in demo mode. The B Insera 7 comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and lets us enjoy binaural phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over normal hearing individuals. We find that good and are happy to award points.

Simplicity & security
An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its everyday practicality. This includes, for example, automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. In the B Insera 7 312, we experienced an effective situational automatic that supports our hearing well. This already ensures that we do not have to constantly make adjustments to the hearing aid. A great feature of this hearing aid is the automatic acclimatization. Especially when someone has been hearing poorly for a long time and then wears a hearing aid for the first time, this is a huge relief. The volume does not have to be turned up immediately to the maximum. One can start at a lower level, and gradually and almost unnoticed, the amplification approaches the desired level.
Many hearing aids today have a rechargeable battery, but the B Insera 7 312 continues to operate with disposable batteries. This is a bit cumbersome to handle and also puts a strain on the environment.
Unfortunately, this hearing aid does not have special protection against dust or moisture ingress; in any case, there is no certification that defines the robustness of the device. It may not be so well suited for an active everyday life.

Lastly, we are interested in whether there are any additional goodies: The tinnitus program is definitely worth mentioning. Those plagued by annoying ear noises will benefit from it. Pleasant, soft sounds are adjusted to gently surround the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus fades into the background noise and becomes hardly noticeable.
We find the remote service very interesting, which one can take advantage of. If someone does not have the opportunity to visit the audiologist, they can instead contact them via the app, briefly describe their hearing problem, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they can upload it to their hearing aids.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the B Insera 7 312. It would have been nice to have a few lifestyle features, but those are not available in the B Insera 7 312. Other hearing aids can score points with language translators or fall alarms, but here it remains within the usual range of features.
