We tested a discreet high-end hearing aid this time. It is the Unitron B Moxi 9 R. It is worn behind the ear and is designed for mild, moderate, and also severe hearing losses. Comfortable noise management contributes significantly to a user liking their hearing aids and wearing them regularly. With this Unitron device, we were impressed by the excellent sound management. The regular noise suppression is designed to dampen uniform, rumbling background noises. In the B Moxi 9 R, the noise suppression can be adjusted to the customer's preference.
Extremely useful is the impulse sound suppression. It captures all the clattering, popping, and crackling sounds and reliably dampens them. With this hearing aid, we are impressed by how clearly the wind noise is suppressed and how stable the device operates even in stronger winds. The hearing aid earns high praise for its excellent 3D hearing. Flexible, highly adaptive directional microphones allow for various directional characteristics and automatically adjust to the demands of the specific situation. We found a proud 20 equalizer bands in the B Moxi 9 R. In each band, the hearing aid activates its sound management, filters out the disruptive components, and retains important speech elements. Sound adjustments can be targeted and precisely executed. We are very satisfied with that. Especially with sharp or steeply falling hearing curves, such a hearing aid can be very useful.
Artificial intelligence has also made its way into hearing aids, such as here in the B Moxi 9 R. This provides a lot more data to identify speech and noise. In our experience, the sound from hearing aids with AI is perceived as particularly precise and realistic.

This device from Unitron can be controlled by voice command. This very modern way of operating hearing aids is truly convenient and particularly fast. More and more functionalities are being integrated into hearing aids that are already familiar from other areas. Here in the B Moxi 9 R, it is the tap control. It is sufficient to briefly tap the ear shell with your fingers or the flat of your hand, and then a command is triggered. This could be, for example, the start of a transmission from the TV adapter. One of the best features of the hearing aid is the direct streaming function. This turns the hearing aid into a TrueWireless headphone and receives calls and other sounds directly in the ear. The prerequisite is a suitable smartphone that includes the 2.4 GHz technology. The biggest advantage is that you can hear phone calls not just in one ear, but in both. Additionally, the sound can be tailored to personal needs.

A balanced automatic situation handling is the most important point we look at regarding simplicity. After all, no one wants to constantly tweak their hearing aid. The B Moxi 9 R has proven in tests that it comfortably and reliably accompanies us through our listening day. With its excellent full automation, this device is a true highlight. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It gradually increases the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This significantly eases the adjustment to the new sound.
A major relief in everyday life is the integrated battery. With this, my B Moxi 9 R always has enough energy for the whole day, and I no longer have to worry about the batteries suddenly running out in the middle of an event. A battery system is also very helpful for those with limited dexterity, as it eliminates the need to insert small button cells.
The B Moxi 9 is almost dustproof and waterproof, and with its IP 68 rating, it is certainly well protected against external influences.

Unitron keeps up with the times and offers a forward-looking feature with the remote adjustment service. Working people with little time can connect with their audiologist online and have their hearing aids reprogrammed. Hearing aid users who have a longer commute to the specialist store also benefit from this special service.
There are no sensors in this B Moxi 9 variant, so the popular health tracking feature cannot be offered. For example, steps are counted throughout the day. As mentioned, this hearing aid does not have this function on board. The functionality of the B Moxi 9 R is limited to normal hearing, which is completely fine. Additional features such as fall alerts or Siri connections provide a decent added value, but are not relevant for a good hearing balance.
