The Unitron DX Moxi 5 Fit in review
Für dieses Gerät gibt es bereits einen Nachfolger. Wir versehen die Gesamtnote daher mit einem Abschlag. Lassen Sie sich in unserem großen Hörgerätevergleich die neuesten Hörgeräte anzeigen.
This time we tested a thin, small hearing aid from a price range slightly above the average. It is the Unitron DX Moxi 5 Fit. It is worn behind the ear and is intended for mild to severe hearing losses. The deep placement of the speaker in the ear canal is due to its design, which also provides a nice, clear sound.
Hearing comfort
The hearing comfort determines whether someone likes wearing their hearing aids or not. Therefore, we first looked at how the hearing aid handles background noise. In this model, which Unitron presents to us, solid comfort programming by the audiologist is possible. Of course, noise suppression is integrated to reduce tiring background sounds. In the DX Moxi 5 Fit, the noise suppression can be adjusted to the customer's preference. Here, the wind noise suppression is very solid and satisfies us in everyday life.
Quickly occurring, clattering noises are noticeably and sufficiently dampened, which we find pleasant. The adjustable microphones help in recognizing specific directions and can also assist in sound cancellation, but the spatial sound was not very natural. We always take a close look at the number of equalizer bands. They are important for adapting the sound of a hearing aid as accurately as possible to the hearing curve. Additionally, the speech noise management also takes place within these bands. The DX Moxi 5 Fit has 14 of them. That's acceptable.
Strategies based on artificial intelligence are not yet implemented in this hearing aid from Unitron.

Operation & connectivity
“Can I adjust something on my hearing aid myself?” “Is there maybe an app?” These and similar questions are becoming more important when choosing a hearing aid, so let's take a look at the operation and connectivity options. For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume up or down, there is a button on the device. You can also select additional programs for special hearing situations through it. We do like the small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows for discreet small changes to the volume or sound.
We are always excited when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control at this point. But it is currently not available in the DX Moxi 5 Fit. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, tap control could be an option, which would trigger a specific function by tapping your fingers to your ear. However, this option is not present in the DX Moxi 5 Fit.
An app on the smartphone is supposed to make operation easier, and we found one for the DX Moxi 5 Fit as well. In addition to basic functions like volume and programs, we also find a few more buttons for personalization. We really enjoyed the direct, wireless streaming. This means that calls from the smartphone are transferred to the hearing aids without any additional accessories. This turns the hearing aid into the perfect hands-free system or wireless headphones. Listening to music or watching and hearing videos is incredibly comfortable.

Simplicity & security
Usability is the next aspect we want to address. This is about everyday practicality and the question of how easy and safe it is to go through life with the hearing aid. We rate the situation recognition integrated in the DX Moxi 5 Fit as rather average. The most significant loud and quiet situations are recognized and adapted. However, this is not quite enough for acoustically more complex moments, as you cannot avoid further manual adjustment options. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions.
The DX Moxi 5 Fit is not rechargeable. It operates with hearing aid batteries size 312. Disadvantage: The batteries are disposed of after use. Advantage: Daily recharging of batteries is eliminated, and the hearing aid runs uninterrupted for several days on one battery.
We take a look at the robustness of the housing and discover in the data sheet the protection class IP 68. This means dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes dangerous after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.
Rating Simplicity & security: 2,3

Unitron DX Moxi 5 Fit:
Extras
At the end of our test report, there is still a bit of space for the extra features: Here we noticed the tinnitus option. If you wish, you can have a special tinnitus program set up for you. This, if needed, overlays a gentle noise to distract from the annoying tinnitus a little bit. The sounds can be customized according to personal hearing preferences.
A very good additional benefit is provided by the remote maintenance service. Through the app, you can contact your hearing care professional and describe your hearing problem. They can adjust the settings accordingly and load them into the hearing aids via the app. For people with little time or a long journey, this is a great service.
Many hearing aids today still come with some health features. However, since the DX Moxi 5 Fit does not have any special sensors for that, we cannot present any specifics here. The device from Unitron focuses on the essential hearing functions and does not offer extras like voice assistants or translation features. While that would have been fun, it is not necessary for a good hearing experience.

Conclusion: Unitron DX Moxi 5 Fit
