Unitron presents the DX Moxi 9 Fit, a model from the premium segment. It can compensate for both mild and more severe hearing needs. It is a small mini hearing aid that delivers good sound quality due to the direct alignment of the speaker in the ear canal. It is worn behind the ear.
Hearing comfort
What is the most bothersome for most hearing aid users? Exactly, background noise. That's why we will first take a look at the comfort features of the test device. The DX Moxi 9 Fit offers customers a comprehensive noise management system. Normal noise suppression is definitely present. It is designed to dampen constant noises like traffic noise or the humming of an air conditioning unit. In our test device from Unitron, the surrounding noise is processed in such a way that relaxed listening is possible.
We are pleased to find effective impulse noise suppression here. This is definitely useful in everyday life, as it noticeably cushions door slamming, dishes clattering, or similar clattering sounds. Wind is also a topic that can limit listening comfort outdoors. However, the DX Moxi 9 Fit handles this confidently and activates wind noise suppression in such situations. By the way, this can be adjusted in stages. The number of frequency bands is very important for good speech-noise distinction. With 20 bands, this hearing aid is among the best and offers excellent adjustment options. The hearing aid earns a big plus point for its outstanding 3D hearing. Flexible, highly adaptive directional microphones allow for various directional characteristics and automatically adjust to the requirements of the respective situation.
Sometimes we encounter hearing aids that successfully process data using artificial intelligence, but that is not yet the case in this device.

Operation & connectivity
Most functions are activated automatically by this Unitron model. However, it can be very useful to be able to expand the functionality a bit more. In our tests, we found out what options we have here. First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very practical, as it is the simplest and fastest way to make adjustments. The volume can be adjusted through it, and different listening programs can also be activated. If you prefer not to adjust anything directly on the ear, you can of course deactivate the button. We do like small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows for discreet small changes in volume or sound.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but unfortunately, this one from Unitron cannot yet. It would be practical when fingers are not as mobile anymore or if one simply enjoys smart gadgets. There is no control of the hearing aids with a simple fingertip in this Unitron model, as it would have required specific sensors in the casing.
As is common today, we also find a smartphone app for the DX Moxi 9 Fit. This app includes solid basic functions and adds a few goodies on top. The DX Moxi 9 comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows for binaural telephone calls. This even gives us an advantage over normally hearing individuals. We find this good and are happy to award points.

Simplicity & security
Another point in our checklist is handling. Does everything work simply and reliably? What does the hearing aid offer to ensure safe daily use? The DX Moxi 9 Fit performs exceptionally well in situational recognition. If you desire a comprehensive and powerful full automation in the hearing aid and want to adjust it as little as possible, this is an excellent choice. The adaptive algorithms untangle the individual sound events in the environment and present the soundscape clearly and precisely. We award a big plus for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It raises the starting volume in very small increments until my hearing goal is reached. This significantly eases the adjustment to the new sound.
The DX Moxi 9 Fit is not rechargeable. It operates with hearing aid batteries of size 312. Disadvantage: The batteries are disposed of after use. Advantage: Daily recharging of batteries is eliminated; the hearing aid runs continuously for several days on one battery.
With IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand many adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it withstands prolonged immersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.

Zum Schluss schauen wir kurz, ob es noch irgendwelche Extras gibt: Ein spezielles Tinnitusprogramm ist im DX Moxi 9 Fit auf Wunsch programmierbar. Damit können stimulierende, angenehme Geräusche generiert werden, die vom Tinnitus ablenken, wenn er mal wieder besonders stark ist. Das finden wir sehr nützlich und vergeben gerne Extrapunkte.
Die Möglichkeit zur Ferneinstellung finden wir richtig gut. Die ist immer dann sehr hilfreich, wenn man nur eine Kleinigkeit an der Hörgerät-Einstellung verändert haben möchte, aber nicht extra zum Hörakustiker fahren will. Den Kontakt nimmt man stattdessen über die App auf, und der Hörprofi schickt ein angepasstes Datenpaket auf dem gleichen Weg zurück.
Sensoren gibt es in dieser DX Moxi 9-Variante nicht, so dass auch das beliebte Gesundheits-Tracking nicht angeboten werden kann. Dabei werden z.B. die Schritte über den Tag gezählt. Wie gesagt - dieses Hörgerät hat diese Funktion nicht an Bord. Das Gerät von Unitron konzentriert sich auf die wesentlichen Hörfunktionen und bietet keine Extras wie Srachassistenten oder Übersetzungsfunktion an. Das hätte zwar Spaß gemacht, ist für ein gutes Hörerlebnis aber nicht erforderlich.
