Even with limited dexterity, operating via voice command can be a real help. With sensor technology, Unitron is taking an innovative approach and opening up entirely new opportunities. For example, there is a tap control for the S Moxi 3 R. Just tap briefly but noticeably with your flat hand or a few fingers on your ear. The hearing aid can then perform a specific function, such as switching to a special setting. Your acoustician can configure this according to your wishes.

The best way to adjust the S Moxi 3 R is with the accompanying app. The first apps had just one screen, but this one offers far more than just the usual volume control. There are clearly defined points from us here. We really enjoyed direct, wireless streaming. This means that calls from the smartphone can be transferred to the hearing aids without additional accessories. Thus, the hearing aid becomes the perfect hands-free system or wireless headphones. Listening to music or watching and hearing videos is incredibly comfortable.

We continue our test and experiment with how easy this hearing aid is to handle. After all, it should simplify the everyday lives of hearing aid users and not complicate them further. We receive relatively little support from the automatic program settings in the S Moxi 3 R. Without a few individual hearing programs, one would probably struggle in a lively everyday environment. A great feature of this hearing aid is the automatic acclimatization. Especially when someone has been hearing poorly for a long time and then wears a hearing aid for the first time, this is an enormous relief. The volume does not have to be immediately turned all the way up. One can start at a lower level and gradually and almost imperceptibly, the amplification approaches the target.

The S Moxi 3 R comes with a charger, as it has built-in batteries. This is contemporary, user-friendly, and what we expect from a modern hearing aid.

We had a carefree everyday experience during our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands - no problem at all. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to foamy bath water or saltwater.

As apps or the hearing aids themselves continue to have more storage space, it’s worth taking a look at possible extra features. Here’s how it looks: We were really pleased with the optional tinnitus program. There are quite a few people who occasionally or frequently suffer from a ringing or buzzing in their ears. The tinnitus program in the S Moxi 3 R is essentially nothing more than a sound generator. It aims to produce broad-band noises or sounds that gently and pleasantly stimulate all hearing areas. The tinnitus fades into the background and is no longer perceived as disturbing.

We find the remote maintenance service intriguing, which can be utilized. If one doesn’t have the opportunity to visit the audiologist, they can instead contact them via the app, briefly describe their hearing problem, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they upload it to their hearing aids.

Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the S Moxi 3 R. In combination with a smartphone, the S Moxi 3 R surprises us with a few nice lifestyle features. It is definitely worth getting thoroughly familiar with the app and utilizing the offered assistance programs.
