Hearing comfort
Hearing comfort determines whether someone likes to wear their hearing aids or not. Therefore, we first looked at how the hearing aid handles background noise. In this model introduced by Widex, we found very few options for influencing comfort. Of course, noise suppression is integrated to reduce tiring background noises. With the Moment 220 BTE 312, we shouldn't expect too much. Speech and sounds are quite close together here. But in acoustically simple situations, that should be sufficient. When the wind sweeps over the microphones outdoors, we wish for wind noise reduction. However, that is missing here, and in some outdoor situations, this can significantly impair hearing comfort.
When clattering and rattling noises appear, the Widex device activates its impulse sound dampener. Nevertheless, these sounds remain quite intense. The adjustable microphones help to identify specific directions and can also assist in noise cancellation, but the room sound was not very natural. The 10 frequency channels are okay. However, it may be that the programming for individual hearing needs is not quite as precise, and one might have to make some compromises in sound quality.
Sometimes we experience hearing aids that successfully process data using artificial intelligence, but this is not the case with this device yet.

The simplest control option is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has it too. It can be programmed according to your wishes. Do you want a manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for step-by-step adjustment of the volume. Or do you need different special programs for your professional daily life or your hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. If you want to leave everything in automatic mode, you can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. A remote control is available for the Moment 220 BTE 312. It's quite handy, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume up-down option as well as various hearing programs.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but this one from Widex unfortunately cannot yet. That would be practical if your fingers are not so agile anymore or if you simply love smart gadgets. Tap Control would have been an interesting feature too. With that, you could change the function with a quick tap on your ear. But that is not available yet in the Moment 220 BTE 312.
A suitable app will also be provided to us. In everyday life, the app should suffice, but it doesn't offer much more than a volume function and accessing various hearing programs. Since the hearing aid has a radio module, it can also be used as a headset or headphones. For that, a small additional device is needed, a so-called streamer. It serves as the interface between the hearing aids and a Bluetooth-compatible audio device. Smartphone, laptop, navigation device - everything can be quickly and easily connected.

The functionality of the moment 220 BTE 312 is limited to normal hearing, which is completely fine. Additional features like fall alerts or Siri connections do offer considerable added value but are not relevant for good hearing balance.
