The SmartRIC 440 mini RITE R is a small mini hearing aid from the top class. It is worn behind the ear.

Hearing aids are meant to not only bring speech to the ear but also sound pleasant. So let's first take a look at the comfort features. What types of noise does the hearing aid recognize? With 15 bands, it is well-equipped for precise adjustment to personal sound preferences. The microphones of the hearing aid can adopt different directional characteristics. They do this autonomously, adapting to the acoustic conditions and creating a natural spatial experience.
Despite modern comfort features, tricky hearing situations can still arise. For this, the SmartRIC 440 mini RITE R has an assistance mode in its app. Behind this is an artificial intelligence that analyzes the current environment and calculates a noticeably better setting.

Would you like to be able to make adjustments to your hearing aids yourself? We believe it can be quite useful to have one or two operating options. Let's take a look at how it is with the SmartRIC 440 mini RITE R. Usually, there is a button on the hearing aid, and we found one on the SmartRIC 440 as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button, and it can also be disabled if desired. A discreet way to change the hearing aid is with the remote control. It fits in any pocket. When the person across from you is speaking too quietly again, just one or two clicks are enough to adjust the volume. Additional hearing programs for listening to music or driving can also be activated with the remote control.
In the test, we did not find any option for voice control. This feature is not necessarily required, but we would have appreciated it nonetheless. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, a tap control could be conceivable, which would trigger a specific function by tapping your fingers on your ear. One of the best features in the hearing aid is the direct streaming function. The SmartRIC 440 mini RITE R has proven in the test that it comfortably and reliably accompanies us through our hearing everyday life. With its outstanding full automation, this device is a real highlight. Very important to us in terms of simplicity is the support during the adjustment period. Especially after having heard poorly for years, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a natural volume. Our test device includes an acclimatization manager that helps us through the adjustment phase with very small volume adjustments. After a few weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.
Easy handling in everyday life definitely includes the power supply. The SmartRIC 440 mini RITE R has a built-in battery and is rechargeable. As one charge is definitely enough for the whole day, we don't have to worry about the battery running out in the middle of a conversation.
The data sheet certifies the Widex device to IP protection class 68. This makes it one of the most resilient hearing aids on the market. Dust doesn’t stand a chance, and water does not penetrate the housing as long as it doesn’t submerge deeper than 1.5 m. However, be careful. Shampoo, for example, changes the surface tension of water. You should also avoid saltwater. In everyday life, however, you can behave completely worry-free.

Über ein paar Extra-Funktionen freut sich jeder, also schauen wir mal, ob wir hier fündig werden: Widex hat einen Geräuschgenerator integriert, der für Tinnitus-Geplagte ein paar lindernde Klänge abspielt. Das kann vom Tinnitus ablenken und für etwas mehr Entspannung sorgen.
Ein cleveres Tool ist der integrierte Fernwartungsservice. Fast jeder hat ein Smartphone, und Zeit ist ein knappes Gut. Deshalb ist so ein Fernwartungsservice absolut angemessen. Wer eine neue Programmierung seiner Hörgeräte benötigt, kann ganz einfach über die App Kontakt zum Akustiker aufnehmen und seine Hörwünsche beschreiben. Über einen Cloud-Service kann der Profi dann eine individuelle Einstellung als Datenpaket in die App schicken. Von dort wird sie aufs Hörgerät geladen und kann sofort ausprobiert werden. Das verdient auf jeden Fall Extrapunkte in unserem Test.
Hätte Widex Bewegungssensoren in dieses Hörgerät integriert, dann könnte sogar ein individuelles Gesundheits-Tracking erfolgen. Das ist hier aber nicht der Fall. Diese Punkte gehen dem SmartRIC 440 mini RITE R in der Wertung verloren. Bei anderen Hörgeräten gibt es schon ein paar erweiterte Optionen wie einen Sturzalarm oder Erinnerungsfunktionen. Hier finden wir das nicht, und das ist auch gar nicht so dramatisch, denn die normalen Hörfunktionen sind immer noch am wichtigsten.

Abschließend lässt sich sagen, dass es sich bei diesem Gerät um einen echten Allrounder handelt, der uns mit seiner Komfortausstattung überzeugt und mit der Note 2,31 ein gutes Gesamtergebnis erzielt. Wer auf Spitzentechnik verzichten möchte, aber trotzdem einen bequemen Höralltag wünscht, der ist hier an der richtigen Stelle.
