Audio Service offers the G6 12 Quix, a small mini hearing aid that is worn in the ear. It is a hearing aid from the premium price segment and is suitable for mild to moderate hearing needs. The discreet placement in the ear canal ensures that sound reaches the eardrum without losses.
Hearing comfort
Hearing comfort determines whether someone enjoys wearing their hearing aids or not. That's why we first looked at how the hearing aid handles background noise. In this model, presented by Audio Service, solid comfort programming by the hearing aid acoustician is possible. Of course, noise suppression is integrated to soften demanding background noises. The noise suppression in the G6 12 Quix is solid. There are hearing aids that have a significantly more effective reduction, but this one should be sufficient for normal requirements. A slightly stronger wind reduction would be desirable, but the wind reduction in the G6 12 Quix is manageable.
In our test, we also discovered impulse sound control. It dampens short, popping noises. This works reasonably well here, but we are not in the top class. Spatial hearing with the G6 12 Quix happens very naturally. Due to the special placement deep in the ear canal, the function of the outer ear is preserved, and there are no compromises in directional hearing. The more bands the equalizer in the hearing aid has, the more reliable the separation of speech and background noise becomes. The sound can also be shaped better. The G6 12 Quix has 16 bands and thus belongs to the more powerful models.
An exciting topic in hearing acoustics is the use of artificial intelligence, but this is not yet applied in this Audio Service model.

Operation & connectivity
How can one fully utilize the potential of hearing aids in everyday life? We found out what access options are available with the G6 12 Quix. Unfortunately, this hearing aid lacks a direct control option. This is probably due to its small form factor. However, this doesn't have to be a disadvantage, as often the automatic functions are sufficient. Those who don't like adjusting the volume by touching their ear will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for convenient and discreet adjustments to the hearing aid.
In our test, we did not find any voice control option. This function is not necessarily needed, but we would have appreciated it nonetheless. There is no touch control for the hearing aids in this Audio Service model, as it would have required specific sensors in the casing.
An app for individual control is available for free. However, we only find standard functions here, which are useful but do not make the app particularly enjoyable to use. Unfortunately, wireless connectivity options are completely lacking in this version. This is no longer quite up to date, but it is probably due to the small size of the hearing aid.

Simplicity & security
Usability is the next aspect we want to focus on. This is about everyday practicality and the question of how easy and safe it is to go through life with the hearing aid. The G6 12 Quix automatically accesses the most important hearing settings, making daily use easier. However, those who frequently experience changing acoustic environments should consider configuring the manual additional programs. Some people find it difficult to adjust, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume. There is a familiarization manager that gradually leads us to the required target amplification. The duration can range from a few weeks to several months, and this is individually adjustable. The individual steps are so small that one hardly notices that there has been a volume increase.
The G6 12 Quix is not rechargeable. It operates with hearing aid batteries size 10. Disadvantage: The batteries are disposed of after use. Advantage: Daily charging of batteries is not necessary; the hearing aid runs continuously for several days on a single battery.
Hearing aids are exposed to external influences. However, this model does not have any special coating against moisture or dust. This is unusual nowadays and surprises us. Therefore, optimal care is essential here.

Extras
At the end of our test report, there is still a bit of space for the extra features: Are you one of the tinnitus sufferers? Then you could use the optional tinnitus program in the G6 12 Quix. Soft, gentle sounds are tuned to your hearing and engage all areas of the inner ear. It's nothing more than a distraction maneuver, and it works surprisingly well. The tinnitus fades into the general noise and doesn't bother you anymore. It's a simple but effective tool and gets extra points from us.
Online services are becoming increasingly commonplace. There is often a remote maintenance service available for hearing aids as well. However, Audio Service has not provided such a service for its G6 12 Quix yet. So you have to go to the specialist store every time you want to have your hearing aid programmed differently. No extra points for that.
Many hearing aids today still come with a few health functions. However, since the G6 12 Quix does not have any special sensors for that, we cannot present any particular features here. The hearing aid does without additional functions such as special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or speech translators. This is not a big deal, as it has no impact on the important hearing functions.
