Audio Service offers the G7 8 ITC Li 7, a small hearing aid that is worn in the ear. It is a hearing aid from a price range slightly above the average and is suitable for mild, moderate, and even significant hearing needs. The direct wearing location in the ear canal ensures that sound reaches the eardrum without any loss.
Hearing comfort
We all agree that speech understanding is the most important task of hearing aids. However, from our experience in the hearing acoustics retail business, we also know that listening comfort is at least equally important. It’s about processing background noise so that it does not hinder speech understanding, while still creating a realistic sound profile. During the test of the G7 8 ITC Li 7, we found very few options to influence comfort. Let’s take a look at the individual features:
Of course, this audio service device has noise suppression, as that has become standard. Noise suppression means that uniform and rather monotonous sounds (e.g., air conditioning, vacuum cleaner, etc.) are dampened. Here, the effectiveness of the noise suppression is slightly above the required minimum. Nevertheless, these sounds will still be audible.
In our test, we also discovered impulse sound control. Short, popping noises are dampened by this feature. It works reasonably well here, but we are not in the top class. Wind noises can sometimes become a problem outside. Therefore, there is moderate wind noise management integrated here. The G7 8 ITC Li 7 has 12 adjustable frequency bands, placing it in the mid-range. A good acoustician can surely extract a decent sound from it. Spatial hearing has to be trained a bit with these hearing aids. While the movable microphones help, their position on the top of the ear cup does not create spatial sound like that of a normally hearing person. However, after a short acclimatization period, spatial hearing works quite well.
Other hearing aids already use artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but this strategy is not yet part of the G7 8 ITC Li 7.

Operation & connectivity
The most functions of this audio service model are activated automatically. However, it is sometimes very useful to be able to expand the range of functions a bit further. In our test, we found out what options we have here. The simplest way to operate it is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has that too. It can be programmed exactly as desired. Do you want a manual volume control? No problem; the button allows for gradual volume adjustments. Or do you need various special programs for your professional life or hobbies? You can also activate these using the button. Anyone who prefers to leave everything in automatic mode can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. We do like the small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows for discreet adjustments to the volume or sound.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but this one from Audio Service unfortunately cannot yet. It would be practical when fingers are not as agile anymore or when one simply likes smart gadgets. In addition to buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids also have a tap control. This means you can simply tap your ear briefly, and the device will switch. However, we do not have that with Audio Service; it would have required very specific sensors.
A manual operation includes an app. This allows you to access the hearing aid quite discreetly. Besides volume control, you can also adjust hearing programs and a few other functions. Headphones are no longer needed here because it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone to the ears—if the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

User-friendliness is the next aspect we want to address. This concerns everyday usability and the question of how simple and safe it is to navigate life with a hearing aid. Typical hearing situations that everyone experiences in their environment are reliably detected and adjusted through automatic settings. However, for more specific, recurring needs, one cannot avoid using the manual hearing programs. The adjustment to the new hearing experience is supported by a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely noticeable steps until my hearing loss is fully compensated. I have to do nothing more than wear my hearing aids regularly.
Easy handling in everyday life definitely includes power supply. The G7 8 ITC Li 7 has a built-in rechargeable battery. One charge is sufficient for the entire day, so we need not worry about the battery dying in the middle of a conversation.
The hearing aid has been rated in protection class IP68. This guarantees comprehensive protection against the ingress of dust. Water also cannot easily damage the hearing aid. Thus, it is well-equipped for outdoor activities where it may get wet and dirty. However, do not swim or bathe with the hearing aids. Bath additives or the salt content in seawater can alter the composition and ultimately cause damage.

Bevor wir zum Ende kommen, werfen wir noch einen Blick auf die Extras: Auf jeden Fall erwähnenswert ist das Tinnitusprogramm. Davon werden all jene profitieren, die von lästigen Ohrgeräuschen geplagt werden. Angenehme, leise Geräusche werden so eingestellt, dass sie den Tinnitus sanft umspielen. Am Ende versinkt der Tinnitus in der Geräuschkulisse und fällt gar nicht mehr störend auf.
Die Möglichkeit zur Ferneinstellung finden wir richtig gut. Die ist immer dann sehr hilfreich, wenn man nur eine Kleinigkeit an der Hörgerät-Einstellung verändert haben möchte, aber nicht extra zum Hörakustiker fahren will. Den Kontakt nimmt man stattdessen über die App auf, und der Hörprofi schickt ein angepasstes Datenpaket auf dem gleichen Weg zurück.
Hätte Audio Service Bewegungssensoren in dieses Hörgerät integriert, dann könnte sogar ein individuelles Gesundheits-Tracking erfolgen. Das ist hier aber nicht der Fall. Diese Punkte gehen dem G7 8 ITC Li 7 in der Wertung verloren. Das Gerät von Audio Service konzentriert sich auf die wesentlichen Hörfunktionen und bietet keine Extras wie Srachassistenten oder Übersetzungsfunktion an. Das hätte zwar Spaß gemacht, ist für ein gutes Hörerlebnis aber nicht erforderlich.
