The Audio Service G8 6 CIC in review
Buying a hearing aid requires careful consideration, as it comes with a significant price, and you want to enjoy it for many years. That's why we look at various parameters and provide you with the results of our product tests. This test report is about the G8 6 CIC from Audio Service. This is a small hearing aid with a very slim design from a solid mid-range price category, suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss. It is worn in the ear. Due to the well-suited position in the ear canal, it has quite good acoustic sound characteristics right from the start.
Even though the new AudioService G8 chip is integrated into these devices, you still have to do without some technical supports in everyday life in this device class. The innovative features only become apparent in the higher price ranges.
Hearing comfort
Hearing aids should not only transmit speech to the ear but also sound pleasant. So let's first look at the comfort features. What types of noise does the hearing aid recognize? Are they dampened or transmitted unchanged? Is the hearing aid suitable for a lively everyday life? Here with this test device, we have found only limited options for comfort adjustment. As with every hearing aid, typical noise cancellation is also included here. It is designed to reduce consistent, noisy background sounds to the point where they no longer dominate. With the G8 6 CIC, we are not exactly spoiled but can manage well with simple noise reduction.
The device from Audio Service can also recognize wind noise, but this leads to only minimal noise reduction. For normal everyday pathways, this is sufficient, but true outdoor activists will not be satisfied with it. When rattling, clattering noises arise, the Audio Service device activates its impulse sound dampener. Still, these noises remain quite intense. A few more frequency channels would be desirable, but with the existing 12 channels, it is already quite manageable. The special design of the G8 6 CIC proves to be a stroke of luck when it comes to spatial hearing. The microphones are positioned deep in the ear canal, and this is precisely where sound reaches normal-hearing individuals. Therefore, spatial hearing does not need to be artificially recreated but occurs naturally.
Sometimes we experience hearing aids that very successfully process data with the help of artificial intelligence, but this is not yet the case with this device.
Rating Hearing comfort: 3,7
Operation & connectivity
Although hearing aids are now very intelligent, they still cannot read the thoughts of the hearing aid wearer. Thus, the automation sometimes reaches its limits. Individual adjustment options can be really useful, so let's take a brief look at the options available with the G8 6 CIC: For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume, there is a button on the device. You can also select additional programs for special hearing situations through it. Those who prefer not to touch their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This way, changes to the hearing aid can be made conveniently and discreetly.
In our test, we did not find any option for voice control. This function is not strictly necessary, but we would have liked it nonetheless. Tap Control would also have been an interesting feature. With that, you could change the function with a quick tap on the ear. However, this is not available in the G8 6 CIC yet.
The app is not one of our highlights. But at least there is one. And in times when almost every hearing aid wearer also owns a smartphone, that is definitely useful. Unfortunately, wireless connectivity options are completely missing in this version. This is somewhat outdated, but it is likely due to the small size of the hearing aid.

Simplicity & security
An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its practicality in everyday life. This includes automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. We do not necessarily experience simple, comfortable listening with the G8 6 CIC. In a quieter daily environment, one can manage well, but as soon as you have a varied hearing day, you cannot avoid manual adjustments. Some people find it difficult to get used to it, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to adapt to the new volume. There is a habituation manager that gradually brings us to the required target amplification. The duration can range from a few weeks to several months and is individually adjustable. The individual steps are so small that one hardly notices any increase in volume.
The G8 6 CIC is not rechargeable; it operates with hearing aid batteries. Unlike rechargeable batteries, it does not need to be charged daily, but the size 10 battery will need to be replaced after a few days.
The hearing aid has been classified in IP protection class 68. This guarantees comprehensive protection against dust intrusion. Water also cannot easily damage the hearing aid. Thus, it is well-equipped for outdoor activities where it can get wet and dirty. However, do not go swimming or bathing with the hearing aids. Bath additives or the salt content in seawater can change the composition and may ultimately cause damage.
Rating Simplicity & security: 2,8
Extras
Sometimes hearing aids have additional features that can be quite useful. Let's see how it is with this Audio Service device: Here we noticed the tinnitus option. Those who wish can have a special tinnitus program set up. This applies a gentle noise to the ears if needed, to distract a bit from the annoying tinnitus. The sounds can be customized according to personal hearing preferences.
Unfortunately, there is no option for remote adjustment. So, anyone who needs optimization and wants to change their hearing aid settings must visit a hearing professional.
Many hearing aids today still come with a few health functions. However, since the G8 6 CIC has no special sensors for that, we cannot present any particular features here. This Audio Service hearing aid does not have any other lifestyle options onboard. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don’t need that for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.

Conclusion: Audio Service G8 6 CIC
With a final grade of 3.26, this model holds its own in the mid-range. It has quite a decent comfort feature set on board, sufficient for typical everyday moments and creates a satisfying listening experience.
