Due to its optimal position at the front of the ear canal, it has very good sound properties.
Hearing comfort
The comfort features determine how pleasant hearing is felt in everyday life. With this hearing aid, the manufacturer provides the customer with comprehensive noise management. A classic noise suppression is intended to reduce annoying background noises to a tolerable level. The Alpha 7 ITC includes a remarkable, well-functioning noise reduction. We are happy that the Alpha 7 ITC also includes wind noise reduction.
Impulse noises occur very frequently in daily life. There's the dishwasher that needs to be unloaded, or the keychain that is placed on the table. The Alpha 7 ITC features strong impulse sound management that makes these sounds bearable. The spatial hearing has convinced us in everyday situations. Although it is not true 3D hearing, one quickly forgets that when wearing the hearing aids. A brilliant hearing experience is based not least on the number of frequency bands. The more bands there are, and the narrower the individual frequency channels, the better the hearing aid can be adjusted to individual preferences. Here we get 20 bands right away. This not only allows for a great sound impression; it also enables very careful speech and background noise suppression.
One component in the signal processing of the Alpha 7 ITC is artificial intelligence. The influence is positive, as many customers find conversations in noisy situations significantly more relaxed.

Operation & connectivity
Almost every one of us owns a smartphone, so the question arises whether it can also be connected to the new hearing aid. Let's take a look at the connectivity and usability of the Alpha 7 ITC. A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It's easy to feel, and you can adjust the volume louder or quieter in several stages. Additional programs for specific listening situations can also be activated with it. Those who prefer not to use the button can have it disabled. Those who don't like to touch their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This way, one can comfortably and discreetly make changes to the hearing aid.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control at this point. But currently, there is no such feature in the Alpha 7 ITC. Control of the hearing aids with a simple tap of a finger is not available in this Bernafon model, as it would have required specific sensors in the housing.
As is common today, we also find a smartphone app for the Alpha 7 ITC. This app includes solid basic functions and adds a few extras on top. Problems with making phone calls using the smartphone are a thing of the past with this device. Calls, music, and other sounds are transmitted completely wirelessly to the hearing aids. Headphones become unnecessary. We tested the wireless transmission during longer phone calls as well as while listening to music while exercising. Everything worked simply and smoothly. Only a compatible smartphone with 2.4 GHz wireless technology is needed.

Now let's take a look at how the use in everyday life is structured. Is the handling easy? Do I get a safe device? The Alpha 7 ITC has an extensive set of stored listening situations. If a typical pattern is recognized, the hearing aid automatically activates the correct setting. Very important in terms of simplicity is the support during the acclimatization phase. Especially after having heard poorly for years, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a natural volume. In our test device, there is an acclimatization manager that helps us through the adjustment phase with very small volume adjustments. After a few weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.
Zinc-air batteries provide power to the Alpha 7 ITC. Changing the battery may be quite cumbersome for people with limited dexterity or vision. If you have concerns about this, it might be better to look for a rechargeable model.
The data sheet certifies the Bernafon device with an IP protection class 68 certification. This makes it one of the most robust hearing aids on the market. Dust has no chance, and water does not penetrate the casing unless it submerges deeper than 1.5 m. Still, be careful. Shampoo, for example, changes the surface tension of water. You should also avoid saltwater. In everyday life, however, you can behave completely carefree.

Extras
Before we reach the end, let's take a look at the extras: The tinnitus program is definitely worth mentioning. Those who suffer from bothersome ear noises will benefit from it. Pleasant, quiet sounds are adjusted to gently weave around the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus sinks into the background noise and becomes hardly noticeable.
We find the remote maintenance service particularly exciting, which can be utilized. If one has no opportunity to visit the audiologist, they can instead contact them via the app, briefly describe their hearing issue, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they load it into their hearing aids.
Some hearing aids can track specific health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Alpha 7 ITC. You should take a closer look at the app for this Bernafon device. It contains some extras that significantly expand the functionality of these hearing aids. We really think these additional features are great!
