Here with this test device, we find only the absolute basics regarding hearing comfort. As with all hearing aids, there is also typical noise suppression here. It is designed to reduce monotonous, noisy background sounds to a level where they are not as prominent. With the Entra A 1 MNR T, we have to settle for a minimum level of noise suppression.
We found a basic wind noise detection feature, but unfortunately, nothing is adjustable. Points are deducted for the lack of impulse noise suppression. Normally, this dampens short, rattling noises. But those who choose this hearing aid should not let this disturb them. An important point in our tests is the number of frequency bands. It plays a role when it comes to the precise programming of the hearing aids. This number is also important when distinguishing between speech and sounds. Here we have 8 bands. There could definitely have been a few more, as we unfortunately cannot make very fine adjustments. However, those who do not place much value on a brilliant sound experience might manage quite well with the Entra A 1 MNR T. Unfortunately, there is nothing to say about spatial hearing here, as the microphones have no additional function that could enhance directional hearing.
An exciting topic in hearing acoustics is the use of artificial intelligence, but this is not yet applied in this Bernafon model.

Operation & connectivity
Every person has their own unique hearing needs. It is advantageous if one can customize their hearing aids beyond the automatic functions. In our test, we discovered the following access options: There is usually a button on the hearing aid, which we also found on the Entra A 1. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button and can be deactivated if desired. There is also a remote control available for the hearing aid. This allows for effortless volume adjustment. The handling is not only child’s play, but no one will even notice that you are adjusting your hearing aids.
The modern form of voice control is not yet found in the Entra A 1 MNR T. Besides buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids also feature a tap control. This means you can simply tap your ear, and the device switches. However, we do not have this feature at Bernafon, as it would have required very specific sensors.
It is very convenient to adjust the hearing aids via the app. There is also a free app for the Entra A 1 MNR T. In our opinion, the functional scope is average, but mostly sufficient. It is best to try it out in demo mode beforehand. We particularly enjoyed the direct, wireless streaming. This means that phone calls from the smartphone are transmitted to the hearing aids without any additional accessories. This turns the hearing aid into the perfect hands-free device or wireless headphones. Listening to music or watching and hearing videos is incredibly comfortable.

An automatic situation detection would have definitely made life easier, but it is not available here. Very important in terms of simplicity is the support during the acclimatization process. Especially after years of poor hearing, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a natural volume. Our test device features an acclimatization manager that helps us through the adjustment phase with very small volume adjustments. After a few weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.
Many hearing aids today have a rechargeable battery, but the Entra A 1 MNR T continues to operate with disposable batteries. This is a bit cumbersome to handle and also impacts the environment.
We also take a look at the robustness of the casing and discover the protection class IP 68 in the data sheet. This means that dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes dangerous after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.
