Hansaton offers flow+ 10 CIC, a small hearing aid with a very slim design that is worn in the ear. It is a hearing aid from the basic price segment and is suitable for moderate, more severe, and changing hearing losses. The wearing position directly in the ear canal ensures that sound reaches the eardrum without losses.
Hearing comfort
In the hearing comfort section, we look at how a hearing aid handles all the background noises. Comfortable noise management significantly contributes to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. This Hansaton device allows for solid comfort programming by the audiologist. The regular noise suppression aims to reduce uniform, static background noises. The flow+ 10 CIC features a remarkable, well-functioning noise reduction.
Our test discovered impulse sound damping. It slightly mitigates cracking, quickly occurring sounds. Wind noise is another specialized topic. Those who have been outdoors with older hearing aids know what we're talking about. However, with the flow+ 10 CIC, this is not an issue due to its design. The wind doesn't really reach the microphones because they are located in the ear canal. The flow+ 10 CIC impresses us with its natural, spatial hearing. The outer ear retains its function, making the 3D feeling just as it would be if one were not wearing any hearing aid at all. While the flow+ 10 CIC doesn't have a lot of adjustable equalizer bands, the 12 should be sufficient for a good listening experience.
Sometimes we encounter hearing aids that successfully process data using artificial intelligence, but this device has not yet reached that level.

Operation & connectivity
“Can I adjust something on my hearing aid myself?” “Is there maybe an app?” These and similar questions are becoming increasingly important when selecting a hearing aid, so let's take a look at the control and connection options. A very quick way to correct the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can adjust it to be louder or quieter in several steps. Additional programs for specific hearing situations can also be activated with it. If you want to do without the button, you can simply have it disabled. We would have liked a remote control, but Hansaton does not offer one for this model. So no points in this area.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional function. For example, at this point, we would have liked to see voice control. However, that is not available in the flow+ 10 CIC at the moment. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, a tap control could be possible, which would trigger a specific function by tapping your fingers on your ear. However, this option is not present in the flow+ 10 CIC.
Adjusting the volume quickly via the app is unfortunately not possible with the flow+ 10 CIC. An app is not available for that. This is inconsequential if you are not a smartphone user anyway. Unfortunately, wireless connection options are completely missing in this version. This is not very up-to-date anymore, but it is probably due to the small size of the hearing aid.

An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its practicality in everyday life. This includes, for example, automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. An automatic environmental adaptation would certainly be helpful in daily life, but unfortunately, it is not provided in the flow+ 10 CIC. Therefore, we have to limit ourselves to the manual adjustment options. Some people find it difficult to get used to it, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume. There is an acclimatization manager that gradually leads us to the required target amplification. The time frame can last a few weeks or even several months; it is adjustable individually. The individual steps are so small that you barely notice there was a volume increase.
The flow+ 10 CIC is not rechargeable. It continues to get its energy from disposable batteries size 10, which need to be changed every few days.
With IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand a variety of adverse conditions. Dust cannot penetrate, it can withstand longer submersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.

Finally, let's take a quick look at whether there are any extras: A special tinnitus program can be programmed in the flow+ 10 CIC upon request. This allows for the generation of stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from tinnitus when it is particularly severe. We find this very useful and are happy to award extra points.
A nice feature would be a remote maintenance service to get help from a hearing professional even when you can't make it to the store. Unfortunately, this is not available here, so there are no extra points.
Some hearing aids can track specific health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the flow+ 10 CIC. Other hearing aids already offer some extended options like a fall alert or reminder functions. We don't find that here, and that's not too dramatic, because the normal hearing functions are still the most important.
