The Bernafon Leox UP 3 HDO 675 in review
Hier haben wir es mit einem nicht mehr ganz aktuellen Modell zu tun. Die Gesamtnote wurde daher mit einem Abschlag versehen. Die neueste Technik aus dem Hause Bernafon finden Sie hier: Bernafon Encanta
Our testers have examined another hearing aid from the lower mid-range. We present: the Bernafon Leox UP 3 HDO 675. Here we have a standard hearing aid with a thick or thin plastic tube that is worn behind the ear. It can be used by anyone who wants to compensate for both mild and more severe hearing needs. The Leox UP 3 HDO 675 is a well-designed, compact hearing aid. Is it worth buying this model? We will reveal the details.
Hearing comfort
The hearing comfort determines whether someone likes to wear their hearing aids or not. That's why we first looked at how the hearing aid handles background noise. In this model, presented by Bernafon, we find only the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. Naturally, noise suppression is integrated to mitigate tiring background noises. In the Leox UP 3 HDO 675, this only works to a limited extent. There is nothing more than a very basic noise suppression. The Leox UP 3 HDO 675 does have wind reduction, but it doesn't really help outside.
Short, loud sounds can also be detected by this device. However, the attenuation is very low. Anyone who regularly encounters such impulsive noises in their environment should choose a different model. The microphone technology is quite simple. The hearing aids cannot create a true spatial perception, as those with normal hearing experience. When trying to assess directions or distances through hearing, one must be cautious; this is - if at all - reliably achieved only after a certain acclimatization period. We also look at the number of equalizer bands: the device from Bernafon has 10. We are not really happy with that; the options for sound shaping are quite limited. However, it is sufficient for good speech understanding.
Other hearing aids already use artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but the Leox UP 3 HDO 675 does not yet incorporate this strategy.
Rating Hearing comfort: 4,7

Bernafon Leox UP 3 HDO 675:
Operation & connectivity
Every person has their own unique hearing needs. It is advantageous if one can customize their hearing aids beyond the automatic functions. In our test, we discovered the following accessibility options: A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can increase or decrease the volume in several steps. Additional programs for specific listening situations can also be activated with it. Those who prefer not to use the button can simply have it deactivated. Anyone who doesn't like to touch their ear to raise the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for convenient and discreet adjustments to the hearing aid.
Voice commands are a relatively new way to operate hearing aids. However, we do not have this option in this model yet. That’s not a major issue - the main thing is that one can hear well. In addition to buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids also feature a tap control. This means you can simply tap your ear briefly, and the device will switch modes. However, we do not have that here at Bernafon, as it would have required specific sensors.
In the App Store, we also find a suitable application from Bernafon. The app for the Leox UP 3 HDO 675 is not one of our highlights, but it has everything needed for hearing systems. The Leox UP 3 comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows for binaural phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over normal hearing individuals. We think that’s great and are happy to give it points.

Simplicity & security
Now let's take a look at how the usage in everyday life is structured. Is the handling easy? Do I get a safe device? Unfortunately, the Leox UP 3 HDO 675 cannot provide automatic situation detection; we need to make manual adjustments to hear well in different acoustic situations. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually adapt to the new hearing impressions.
The Leox UP 3 HDO 675 is not rechargeable. It operates with hearing aid batteries size 675. Disadvantage: The batteries are disposed of after use. Advantage: Daily recharging of batteries is eliminated, and the hearing aid runs uninterrupted for several days on a single battery.
Let's take a look at the robustness of the casing and discover in the datasheet the protection class IP 68. This means that dust cannot enter at all, and water becomes dangerous only after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.

Bernafon Leox UP 3 HDO 675:
Extras
Lastly, we are interested in whether there are any additional goodies: A special tinnitus program can be programmed into the Leox UP 3 HDO 675 upon request. This allows for the generation of stimulating, pleasant sounds that help distract from tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and gladly award extra points.
A clever tool is the integrated remote maintenance service. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a scarce resource. Therefore, such a remote maintenance service is absolutely reasonable. Those who need a new programming for their hearing aids can easily contact the audiologist via the app and describe their hearing preferences. Through a cloud service, the professional can then send a customized setting as a data package to the app. From there, it gets loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tested immediately. This definitely deserves extra points in our test.
Many hearing aids still come with a few health features today. However, since the Leox UP 3 HDO 675 does not have any specific sensors for that purpose, we cannot present any special features here. Digital algorithms and compatible apps are increasingly allowing the integration of lifestyle functions that enhance your daily life. We are impressed by what hearing aids like this one from Bernafon can do today. Be sure to give it a try!
