Those who don’t like to touch their ear to raise the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for convenient and discreet adjustments to the hearing aid.
We really enjoyed the voice control feature during the testing of the AQ Sound FS 5 R S. Most of us are already used to talking to our watch or car. So this function fits well into a high-tech product worn on the ear. With sensor technology, Hansaton is taking an innovative approach and opening up entirely new opportunities. For example, there is a tap control for the AQ Sound FS 5 R S. Simply tap noticeably with your flat hand or a few fingers on your ear shell. The hearing aid can then perform a specific function, such as switching to a special setting. Your audiologist can configure this according to your wishes.
It is very convenient to adjust the hearing aids via the app. There is also a free app for the AQ Sound FS 5 R S. In our opinion, the range of functions is average but usually sufficient. It’s best to try it out in demo mode first. The AQ Sound FS 5 comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows for binaural phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over those with normal hearing. We find this great and are happy to award points.

That is why simplicity and safety are very important themes in our hearing aid tests: typical hearing situations that everyone experiences in their environment are reliably recognized and adjusted through automatic settings. However, for more specific, recurring requirements, one cannot avoid using manual hearing programs. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It raises the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This makes it significantly easier to get used to the new sound.
The AQ Sound FS 5 R S is rechargeable and does not require any hearing aid batteries. This is environmentally friendly as there are no old batteries to dispose of. At the same time, it is also extremely convenient because no spare batteries need to be carried. The hearing aids simply go into the charging station in the evening and are ready for use the next morning.
The AQ Sound FS 5 is nearly dust and waterproof and, with its IP 68 classification, is certainly well protected against external influences.

It's nothing more than a distraction tactic, and it works surprisingly well. The tinnitus fades into the general noise and is no longer bothersome. This is a simple yet effective tool and earns extra points from us.
A clever tool is the integrated remote maintenance service. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a precious commodity. Therefore, such a remote maintenance service is absolutely appropriate. Those who need a new programming for their hearing aids can easily contact the audiologist via the app and describe their hearing preferences. Through a cloud service, the professional can then send a personalized setting as a data package to the app. From there, it is loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tested immediately. This definitely deserves extra points in our test.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Hansaton model lacks the sensors for this service. Other hearing aids already offer some advanced options such as a fall alarm or reminder functions. We don’t find that here, and that’s not too dramatic, because the normal hearing functions are still the most important.
