First, we looked at the comfort features. The better these are, the easier and more pleasant the listening experience becomes. With this hearing aid, we were impressed by the excellent noise management. The traditional noise suppression reduces uniform, unimportant sounds slightly. With the AQ Sound FS 9 R T, you can be absolutely satisfied with the noise reduction. On the one hand, it has a remarkable adjustment depth, meaning it can significantly reduce sounds. On the other hand, it can be adjusted in several stages, as one does not always need full attenuation. Hansaton is sure to delight all outdoor enthusiasts with this device, as wind is not only pleasantly attenuated, but speech understanding should also continue to function smoothly.

Additionally, we are surprised by how well the impulse sound management works here. Nothing bangs, nothing rattles – very good! Spatial hearing in this model is nearly lifelike. A sophisticated directional microphone technology allows for good directional listening and creates a real 3D effect. With 20 channels, the frequency band count in the AQ Sound FS 9 R T is very high. This allows the hearing aid to be perfectly tailored to each hearing profile and provides good tuning options in the long term.

This allows discreet adjustments to the volume or sound.

The voice control feature was a lot of fun during our test of the AQ Sound FS 9 R T. Most of us are already accustomed to speaking with our watches or cars. So, this function fits perfectly into a high-tech product worn on the ear. More and more functionalities are being integrated into hearing aids that we already know from other areas. Here in the AQ Sound FS 9 R T, it is the tap control. It is sufficient to briefly tap the ear shell with fingers or a flat hand, and a command is triggered. This could be, for example, starting a transmission from the TV adapter. Your hearing care professional will help you select the appropriate function.

As is common today, we also find a smartphone app for the AQ Sound FS 9 R T. This app contains solid basic functions and adds a few extras on top. You no longer need headphones here, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone to the ears – provided the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

Of course, we are also interested in how quickly one can get used to the AQ Sound FS 9 R T and how easy daily use is. With an exceptionally well-functioning situation automation, the AQ Sound FS 9 R T excels in everyday performance. The finely tuned detection of the acoustic scenery allows us to effortlessly navigate through different listening environments without needing to manually adjust. This is exactly what we expect from a hearing aid. A great bonus of this hearing aid is the automatic acclimatization. Especially when someone has been hearing poorly for a long time and is then wearing a hearing aid for the first time, this is an enormous relief. The volume does not have to be fully turned up immediately. You can start at a lower level, and gradually and almost imperceptibly, the amplification approaches the target.

The AQ Sound FS 9 R T is rechargeable and no longer requires batteries. This is not only environmentally friendly but also very convenient to handle and frees me from the burden of constantly thinking about battery supplies.

The AQ Sound FS 9 is nearly dustproof and waterproof and, with its IP 68 classification, is certainly well protected against external influences.

Before we reach the end, let's take a look at the extras: Hansaton has integrated a sound generator that plays soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.

A genuine added value is offered by the remote maintenance service. To change the hearing aid settings, it's no longer necessary to visit the specialist store; you can directly contact the audiologist through the app. Via a cloud service, you can then load the new data package into the hearing aids. This is exactly what we expect from a modern hearing aid.

If Hansaton had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, it could even allow for individual health tracking. However, that is not the case here. These points are lost in the rating of the AQ Sound FS 9 R T. The functionality of the AQ Sound FS 9 R T is limited to normal hearing, which is completely fine. Additional features like fall detection or Siri connections provide a decent added value but are not relevant for good hearing balance.
