The majority of functions are activated automatically by this Hansaton model. However, it can be very useful to expand the functionality a bit further. In our test, we found out what options we have here. The simplest way to operate is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has it as well. It can be programmed according to your preferences. Do you want manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for step-by-step adjustment of the volume. Or do you need different special programs for your professional daily life or your hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. If you want to leave everything in automatic mode, you can simply ignore the button or even have it disabled. The small remote control, which is available as an option, is very practical. For us, it's one of the most convenient ways to increase or decrease the volume or switch to another hearing program. No one notices, and there's no need to touch your ear.
We do not yet find the modern form of operation via voice command in the AQ sound XC Pro 3 R T. Another option to control the hearing aids is tap control. For this, you simply tap your fingers on your ear, which in turn triggers a specific function. However, this option is not available in this Hansaton device.
As is common today, we also find a smartphone app for the AQ sound XC Pro 3 R T. This app contains solid basic functions and adds a few bonuses on top. Problems when making phone calls with your smartphone are a thing of the past with this device. Phone calls, music, and other sounds are transmitted completely wirelessly to the hearing aids. Headphones become unnecessary. We tested the wireless transmission during longer phone calls as well as listening to music while exercising. Everything worked simply and smoothly. Only a suitable smartphone with 2.4 GHz wireless technology is needed.

However, as soon as the acoustic conditions become more demanding and various noise sources appear simultaneously, you may need to adjust the hearing aid slightly yourself. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It gradually increases the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This greatly facilitates the adjustment to the new sound.
A significant relief in daily life is the integrated battery. With this, my AQ sound XC Pro 3 R T always has enough power for the entire day, and I no longer have to worry about the batteries suddenly running out in the middle of an event. Even with limited dexterity, a battery system is very helpful because it eliminates the need to insert small button cells.
We also take a look at the robustness of the housing and discover the protection class IP 68 in the data sheet. This means that dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes dangerous after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.
