Operation & connectivity
The majority of functions are activated automatically by this Hansaton model. However, it is sometimes very useful to be able to expand the range of functions a bit more. In our test, we discovered what options we have here. A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can increase or decrease the volume in several steps. You can also activate additional programs for special hearing situations with it. If someone prefers to do without the button, they can simply have it deactivated. Those who are not fond of touching their ear to increase the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This way, you can make changes to the hearing aid conveniently and discreetly.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control at this point. However, this feature is currently not available in the jam XC Pro 3 R312 M. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of the finger, without needing to press a button. This feature is not yet implemented here.
In the App Store, we also find a suitable application from Hansaton. The app for the jam XC Pro 3 R312 M is not one of our highlights, but it has everything you need for your hearing systems. For our digital everyday life, a streaming option would be nice. The device at hand fulfills our wish and comes with a 2.4 GHz radio module. This allows you to send phone calls and sounds directly from the smartphone to the hearing aids.

How do you manage with the hearing aid in everyday life? This is the next aspect we will evaluate. Because only when such a device works easily and uncomplicated can one get accustomed to it. In listening, situational awareness makes life easier for us. In the jam XC Pro 3 R312 M, this is not quite as sophisticated. This means that the hearing aid can indeed differentiate between quieter and louder environments and adjust accordingly. However, the challenging moments, such as when there are loud conversations in a high noise background, are not compensated very well. The adaptation to the new hearing sensation is supported by this device with a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely noticeable steps until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I do not have to do anything other than wear my hearing aids regularly.
The jam XC Pro 3 R312 M gets its energy from small disposable batteries that need to be changed every few days. While this is not rocket science, it should at least be taken into consideration for those with motor issues. A rechargeable battery would be much easier to handle.
We experienced a carefree everyday life in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands - no problem at all. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, clean water and not to foamy bathwater or saltwater.
