Hearing comfort

In this Hansaton device, solid comfort programming is possible through the hearing care professional. The standard noise cancellation has the task of softening uniform, hissing background noises. In the jazz XC Pro 3 10 ITC, noise suppression works rather average but is somewhat modifiable.
Short, loud sounds are quickly recognized and effectively reduced in the jazz XC Pro 3 10 ITC, thanks to an adjustable impulse sound dampener. The Hearing Comfort package also includes wind noise suppression. This works very reliably, and we wouldn’t want to do without it anymore. The jazz XC Pro 3 10 ITC impresses us with its natural, spatial hearing. The ear cup retains its function, creating a 3D sensation as if one were not wearing a hearing aid at all. We always take a close look at the number of equalizer bands. They are important for adjusting the sound of a hearing aid as accurately as possible to the hearing curve. Additionally, speech noise management also occurs within these bands. The jazz XC Pro 3 10 ITC has 12 of them. That is okay.
An exciting topic in hearing acoustics is the use of artificial intelligence, but this is not yet applied in this Hansaton model.

Operation & connectivity
Almost every one of us owns a smartphone, which raises the question of whether it can be connected to the new hearing aid. Let's take a look at the connectivity and usability of the jazz XC Pro 3 10 ITC. There is usually a button on the hearing aid, and we found one on the jazz XC Pro 3 as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button, and can also be deactivated if desired. Is the jazz XC Pro 3 remotely controllable? Unfortunately not, there is no suitable device available for this.
Voice commands are a relatively new way to operate hearing aids. However, we do not have this option in this model yet. That's not a big deal - the main thing is that you can hear well. Besides buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids also have tap control. That means you can just tap your ear briefly, and then the device switches. However, we don't have that at Hansaton, as it would have required very specific sensors.
Quickly turning up the volume via the app is unfortunately not possible with the jazz XC Pro 3 10 ITC. There is no app available for that. However, this is irrelevant if you are not a smartphone user anyway. If you were looking forward to wireless streaming, we regret to inform you that a wireless module has unfortunately not been integrated here.

Simplicity & security
Now let's take a look at how the usage looks in everyday life. Is the handling easy? Do I get a safe device? The situational recognition didn't impress us much. Quiet and loud environments are identified, and the jazz XC Pro 3 10 ITC adjusts accordingly. But as soon as the acoustic conditions become more challenging, with different noise sources appearing simultaneously, you might need to make some adjustments to the hearing aid yourself. Very important in terms of simplicity is the support during the acclimatization phase. Especially after having heard poorly for years, it can sometimes be hard to perceive everything at a natural volume. In our test device, there is an acclimatization manager that helps us with very small volume adjustments throughout the adjustment phase. After a few weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.
The jazz XC Pro 3 10 ITC is not rechargeable. It continues to get its power from size 10 disposable batteries, which need to be changed every few days.
Unfortunately, this hearing aid does not have special protection against dust or moisture, at least there is no certification that defines the robustness of the device. It may not be well-suited for an active everyday life.

Extras
Sometimes hearing aids have additional features that can be quite useful. Let's see how it is with this Hansaton device: Hansaton has integrated a noise generator that plays some soothing sounds for those troubled by tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
A nice feature would be a remote maintenance service to receive help from a hearing professional even when you can't make it to the store. But unfortunately, this is not available here, so no extra point is given.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Hansaton model lacks the sensors for that service. This Hansaton hearing aid doesn't have any other lifestyle options on board. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don't need that for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
