Hansaton presents the jazz XC Pro 5 10 IIC, a model from the upper mid-range class. It can compensate for light, moderate, and even strong hearing needs. It is a very delicate miniature hearing aid that delivers good sound due to its discreet, very deep position in the ear canal. It is worn in the ear.

The jazz XC Pro 5 10 IIC impresses us with its natural, spatial hearing. The ear shell maintains its function, making the 3D feel as if you are not wearing a hearing aid at all. The jazz XC Pro 5 10 IIC has 14 adjustable frequency bands, placing it in the midfield. A good acoustician can certainly extract a reasonable sound from that.

Sometimes we encounter hearing aids that successfully process data with the help of artificial intelligence, but this device has not yet reached that level.

Most hearing aids automatically adapt to their environment. However, it is sometimes very practical when you can make some changes yourself. After all, the hearing aid does not know how you are currently feeling. We looked at the operating options offered by the jazz XC Pro 5 10 IIC: For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume, there is a button on the device. You can also select additional programs for special hearing situations through it. Unfortunately, this hearing aid cannot be adjusted via a remote control – which costs a few points.

We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional function. For example, we would have liked to see a voice control feature here. However, it is currently not available in the jazz XC Pro 5 10 IIC. Another option for controlling the hearing aids is a tap control. To do this, you simply tap your fingers on your ear, which triggers a specific function. But this possibility is not available in this Hansaton device.

In the app store, we searched in vain for an app for further adjustment, which we would have preferred differently. The smartphone cannot be connected to the hearing aid, as the necessary equipment with a radio antenna is unfortunately missing.

Next up in the test: How is the user-friendliness? Is it easy or complicated to handle the hearing aid? Typical hearing situations that everyone experiences in their environment are reliably recognized and adjusted through automatic controls. However, for more specific, recurring needs, one cannot avoid using the manual hearing programs. The adaptation to the new hearing experience is supported by this device with a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely noticeable steps until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I don't have to do anything other than regularly wear my hearing aids.

We regret that the jazz XC Pro 5 10 IIC does not have a rechargeable battery but operates with size 10 hearing aid batteries. This is not particularly problematic, but one should remember to carry spare batteries. On the other hand, this hearing aid does not need to be charged daily; it runs for a longer time on a single battery.

For a secure everyday feeling, a solid dust and moisture protection is also important. However, there is no IP certification for this model. Presumably, this model is not really well-equipped against penetrating dust or moisture. This is not up to date and results in point deduction.

An online contact option with the audiologist through the app would be very helpful. This is already quite common today and provides assistance with minor adjustment issues. Unfortunately, Hansaton does not offer this and therefore does not earn extra points.

Many hearing aids still come with some health functions today. However, since the jazz XC Pro 5 10 IIC does not have any special sensors for this, we cannot present any special features here. This Hansaton hearing aid does not have any additional lifestyle options. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don't need those for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
