The Hansaton jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC in review
What hearing comfort does the jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC offer? How is it operated? Is it worth the investment? Answers to these questions can be found in our review of this hearing aid from Hansaton. First, the basics: It is worn in the ear, and due to its audiologically sensible location directly in the ear canal, sound can easily travel towards the eardrum. This is important because only in this way can a truly good, wideband sound be produced.
The jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC is a small, nearly invisible hearing aid from the premium segment that can cover almost every hearing need. Read more details:
Hearing comfort
In the section Hearing Comfort, we look at how a hearing aid handles all the background noise. Comfortable noise management contributes significantly to a user's liking and regular use of their hearing aids. In this Hansaton device, the manufacturer provides the customer with comprehensive noise management. The regular noise suppression is designed to reduce uniform, hissing background noises. We are satisfied with the effectiveness of noise suppression in the jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC. It can not only be turned on or off but also adjusted in stages.
Quickly occurring, clattering noises are noticeably and sufficiently dampened, which we find pleasant. A multi-level wind noise management system is also included. This ensures that listening outdoors is pleasant and uninterrupted. The jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC impresses us with its natural, spatial hearing. The ear shell retains its function, giving a 3D feel as if no hearing aid were being worn at all. With 20 channels, the frequency band count in the jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC is very high. This allows the hearing aid to be perfectly adjusted to each individual's hearing and provides good long-term tuning options.
An exciting topic in hearing acoustics is the use of artificial intelligence, but this is not yet applied in this Hansaton model.
Rating Hearing comfort: 2,2

Hansaton jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC:
Operation & connectivity
Every person has their own unique hearing needs. Therefore, it is advantageous to be able to customize your hearing aids beyond the automatic functions. In our test, we discovered the following access options: First, we found a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very useful, as it is the simplest and quickest way to make a change. The volume can be adjusted through it, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If you prefer not to adjust anything directly at your ear, you can of course deactivate the button. We did not find a remote control. That's a pity, as we actually find this discreet control option quite good.
The modern form of operation via voice command is not yet present in the jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC. Another option for controlling the hearing aids is a tap control. You simply tap on your ear with your fingers, which then triggers a specific function. However, this option is not available in this Hansaton device.
Quickly increasing the volume via the app - unfortunately, this is not possible with the jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC. An app is not available for this. However, this is irrelevant if you are not a smartphone user anyway. Wireless connectivity options are completely lacking in this variant. This is somewhat outdated, but it is probably due to the small size of the hearing aid.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 3,5

Simplicity & security
How does one manage with the hearing aid in everyday life? This is the next aspect we will assess. Because only when such a device works simply and uncomplicated can one become accustomed to it. The jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC performs really well in situation recognition. Those who desire comprehensive and powerful full automation in a hearing aid and want to adjust it as little as possible will be well served here. The adaptive algorithms disentangle the individual sound events in the environment and present the soundscape clearly and precisely. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions.
The jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC is not rechargeable. It operates with hearing aid batteries size 10. Disadvantage: The batteries are disposed of after use. Advantage: Daily recharging of batteries is eliminated; the hearing aid runs continuously for several days on one battery.
For a safe everyday feeling, a solid dust and moisture protection is also important. However, there is no IP certification present. Presumably, this model is not really well-equipped against penetrating dust or moisture. This is not up-to-date and results in point deduction.
Rating Simplicity & security: 2,8

Hansaton jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC:
Extras
Before we come to the end, let's take a look at the extras: Hansaton has integrated a noise generator that plays some soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can help distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
Unfortunately, there is no remote adjustment option. So, anyone who needs optimization and wants to change their hearing aid settings will have to visit a hearing professional.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Hansaton model lacks the sensors for this service. This Hansaton hearing aid does not have any additional lifestyle options. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don't need that for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
Rating Extras: 3,3
Conclusion: Hansaton jazz XC Pro 9 10 CIC
With a final grade of 2.8, this model holds its ground in the mid-range. It comes with a fairly decent comfort level that is sufficient for typical everyday moments and creates a satisfying listening experience.
