In this test device, the manufacturer provides the customer with comprehensive noise management. As in all hearing aids, we also find the typical background noise suppression here. It is designed to reduce monotonous, noisy ambient sounds to the point where they are no longer in the foreground. In the jazz XC Pro 9 10 ITC, the noise suppression can be adjusted to the customer's preference.
The hearing comfort package also includes wind noise suppression. This works very reliably, and we wouldn't want to do without it anymore. Impulsive noises occur very frequently in everyday life. There’s the dishwasher that needs unloading or the bunch of keys being placed on the table. The jazz XC Pro 9 10 ITC features strong impulse sound management that makes these sounds more bearable. A brilliant listening experience is based not least on the number of frequency bands. The more bands there are, and the narrower the individual frequency channels, the better the hearing aid can be adapted to individual preferences. Here we get no less than 20 bands. This not only allows for an excellent sound impression but also enables speech and background noise suppression to work very precisely. Hearing aids like the jazz XC Pro 9 10 ITC maintain the natural spatial perception we have experienced since childhood. The function of the outer ear, head size, head shadow effects—all these parameters create a real, original 3D listening experience.
An exciting topic in acoustics is the use of artificial intelligence, but this is not yet applied in this Hansaton model.

Operation & connectivity
Most hearing aids automatically adapt to their environment. However, it is sometimes very practical to be able to make changes oneself. After all, the hearing aid does not know how you are currently feeling. We looked at the control options that the jazz XC Pro 9 10 ITC offers: A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can turn it up or down in several steps. Additional programs for special hearing situations can also be activated with it. If you want to do without the button, you can have it simply deactivated. We would have liked a remote control, but Hansaton does not offer one for this model. So, no points here.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control at this point. But there is currently none in the jazz XC Pro 9 10 ITC. Control of the hearing aids with a simple fingertip is not available in this Hansaton model because it would have required certain sensors in the housing.
If you are looking for an app, unfortunately, you will not find one here. The jazz XC Pro 9 10 ITC has to do without smart control functions. This point is lost. A connection option to other audio sources is not provided here. It's a pity because a wireless streaming function would have offered a real added value.

Simplicity & security
Another point on our checklist is handling. Does everything work simply and reliably? What does the hearing aid offer to ensure safe usage in everyday life? The jazz XC Pro 9 10 ITC scores points with its exceptionally well-functioning situational automatic when it comes to everyday performance. The finely tuned recognition of the acoustic environment allows us to effortlessly navigate different hearing situations without needing to manually adjust. That is exactly what we hope for from a hearing aid. Some people struggle with getting used to it, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume. There is an adaptation manager that gradually introduces us to the needed target amplification. The duration can be a few weeks or several months; this can be individually adjusted. The individual steps are so small that you hardly notice that there has just been an increase in volume.
The jazz XC Pro 9 10 ITC is not rechargeable. It operates on size 10 hearing aid batteries. Disadvantage: The batteries are disposed of after use. Advantage: The daily recharging of batteries is eliminated, and the hearing aid runs continuously for several days on one battery.
Unfortunately, this hearing aid does not have special protection against penetrating dust or moisture; at least there is no certification defining the robustness of the device. It may not be so well suited for an active everyday life.

Extras
At the end of our test report, there is still a little space for the extra features: A special tinnitus program can be programmed into the jazz XC Pro 9 10 ITC upon request. This allows for the generation of stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from the tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and gladly give extra points.
A nice feature would be a remote maintenance service, allowing you to receive help from a hearing professional even when you can't make it to the store. Unfortunately, this is not available here, so there is no extra point for it.
If Hansaton had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, it could even enable individual health tracking. However, this is not the case here. These points are missing from the jazz XC Pro 9 10 ITC's score. The functionality of the jazz XC Pro 9 10 ITC is limited to normal hearing, which is perfectly fine. Additional functions like fall alerts or Siri connections provide significant added value but are not relevant for achieving good hearing balance.
