Could this hearing aid from the Hansaton program be the right one for you? In our review of the sound XC Pro 7 R312, we highlighted the most important aspects. Here we have a hearing aid of very small size from the upper price range that is worn behind the ear. The cleverly chosen placement of the speaker in the ear canal lays the foundation for good hearing success, as the sound has only a very short distance to travel to the eardrum. This ensures that all sounds actually reach the place where we want them.
The sound XC Pro 7 R312 provides sufficient amplification for mild to profound hearing loss.
Hearing comfort
Good speech understanding is a matter of course in modern hearing aids. Equally important is listening comfort. Only when the ratio of speech transmission to the level of background noise is right, will hearing be perceived as pleasant. Therefore, let's take a look at the comfort features: The sound XC Pro 7 R312 allows for solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional. Normal environmental noises such as traffic noise, vacuum cleaner sounds, or those from a fan should be suppressed by classic noise reduction. In this Hansaton hearing aid, we are satisfied with the effectiveness of the noise suppression. It can not only be turned on or off but also adjusted in stages.
The suppression of short, loud sound events has convinced us here; it is quite powerful. The sound XC Pro 7 R312 impresses us with its wind reduction and provides good performance in that regard. Spatial hearing is reliably supported by multifunctional microphones and is definitely practical. The more bands the equalizer in the hearing aid has, the more reliably it separates speech from background noise. The sound can also be shaped better. The sound XC Pro 7 R312 has 16 bands, making it one of the more powerful models.
Hansaton does not yet utilize artificial intelligence in this version.

Operation & connectivity
The most functions are activated automatically by this Hansaton model. However, it can be very useful to be able to expand the range of functions a bit. In the test, we found out what options we have here. A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can make it louder or quieter in several steps. Additional programs for specific listening situations can also be activated with it. If you prefer to do without the button, you can simply have it deactivated. A discreet way to change the hearing aid is the remote control. It fits in any pocket. If the person you are talking to speaks too quietly again, one or two clicks are enough to adjust the volume. Additional hearing programs for listening to music or driving can also be activated with the remote control.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control at this point. But it is currently not available in the sound XC Pro 7 R312. In addition to buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids also have tap control. This means you can simply tap your ear briefly, and the device will switch over. However, we do not have that here at Hansaton; it would have required specific sensors.
In the App Store, we also find a suitable application from Hansaton. The app for the sound XC Pro 7 R312 is not one of our highlights, but it has everything you need for your hearing systems. The sound XC Pro 7 comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows us to enjoy binaural phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over normal hearing individuals. We think that’s great and gladly award points.

Simplicity & security
Of course, we are also interested in how quickly one adapts to the sound XC Pro 7 R312 and how easy daily use is. In the sound XC Pro 7 R312, we experienced an effective situational automation that supports our hearing well. This ensures that we do not have to constantly adjust the hearing aid. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions.
Many hearing aids today have a rechargeable battery, but the sound XC Pro 7 R312 continues to operate with disposable batteries. This is somewhat cumbersome to handle and also has a negative impact on the environment.
We had a carefree everyday life during our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands – no problem at all. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to foamy bathwater or saltwater.

Extras
Sometimes hearing aids come with additional features that can be quite useful. Let's see how it is with this Hansaton device: A special tinnitus program can be programmed upon request in the sound XC Pro 7 R312. This allows for the generation of stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from the tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and gladly award extra points.
We really like the possibility of remote adjustment. It is very helpful whenever you want to change just a small detail in the hearing aid settings but don’t want to drive to the audiologist. Instead, the contact is made through the app, and the hearing professional sends back an adjusted data package in the same way.
A new trend in the hearing aid industry is integrated sensors that can track, for example, a few personal health data. However, the sound XC Pro 7 R312 does not offer this. The functionality of the sound XC Pro 7 R312 is limited to normal hearing, which is perfectly fine. Additional features like fall alerts or Siri connections have significant added value but are not relevant for good hearing balance.
