The Interton Ready 280 HDO in review
Once again, we focus on a hearing aid from the company Interton. This time, it is a traditional behind-the-ear hearing aid named Ready 280 HDO. It is a small hearing aid and is priced in the basic class. It can be used for mild to severe hearing losses. Let's take a look at what the interior has to offer:
Hearing comfort
In the section on hearing comfort, we look at how a hearing aid handles all the background noise. Comfortable noise management contributes significantly to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. For this Interton device, we find only the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. The regular noise suppression aims to mitigate uniform, rustling background noises. In the Ready 280 HDO, this works only to a limited extent. More than just a very basic noise suppression is not included here.
Points are deducted for the lack of impulse noise suppression. Normally, this dampens short, clattering sounds. But those who choose this hearing aid should not be bothered by this. When the wind sweeps over the microphones outdoors, we wish for wind noise reduction. However, this is missing here, and in some outdoor situations, it can significantly impair hearing comfort. In our tests, we also examine spatial hearing. While adaptive microphones are integrated here, the wireless networking between both ears is lacking, and thus true 3D hearing cannot be reconstructed. Nevertheless, one can manage quite well. With a little practice, directional hearing can be retrained. As for the number of adjustable equalizer bands, we are dealing with 6 on a rather simple device. Of course, it is possible to understand, but the sound is not quite as we would ideally wish.
Sometimes we experience hearing aids that successfully process data using artificial intelligence, but in this device, that is not yet the case.
Rating Hearing comfort: 5,0

Interton Ready 280 HDO: Using the accessory remote control, which is the size of a matchbox, the volume can be adjusted. Individually programmed listening programs set during the hearing aid fitting can be switched. This can happen discreetly in your pocket, keeping curious glances at bay.
Operation & connectivity
The majority of hearing aids automatically adjust to their environment. However, it can sometimes be very practical to make changes oneself. After all, the hearing aid doesn't know how you are feeling at the moment. We looked at the control options that the Ready 280 HDO offers: A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can set it to be louder or quieter in several steps. Additional programs for specific listening situations can also be activated with it. If you want to do without the button, you can simply have it deactivated. A discreet way to adjust the hearing aid is the remote control. It fits in any pocket. If the person opposite is speaking too quietly again, one or two clicks are enough to adjust the volume. Additional hearing programs for listening to music or driving can also be activated with the remote control.
We are always excited when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see a voice control option here. But that is currently not available in the Ready 280 HDO. Another option for controlling the hearing aids is a tap control. You simply tap your fingers on your ear, which triggers a specific function. However, this option is not available in this Interton device.
An additional app for individual control would be nice, but is not currently offered for this hearing aid. Unfortunately, we have to do without a streaming function here and continue holding the smartphone to our ear as usual.

Simplicity & security
Now let's take a look at how the usage in everyday life is structured. Is the handling easy? Do I get a safe device? Unfortunately, the Ready 280 HDO does not provide automatic situation detection; we have to make manual adjustments to hear well in different acoustic situations. For beginners in hearing aids, an acclimatization manager is desirable. This ensures that the required target amplification is achieved in very small, barely noticeable steps. However, this hearing aid does not have such a manager. This means we either have to cope with the necessary volume right away, or we will need to visit the hearing care professional several times in the coming weeks and months for further assistance.
The Ready 280 HDO is not rechargeable. It operates with hearing aid batteries size 13. Disadvantage: The batteries are disposed of after use. Advantage: The daily charging of batteries is unnecessary, and the hearing aid runs continuously for several days on a single battery.
Let's also take a look at the robustness of the casing and discover in the datasheet the protection class IP 68. This means that dust cannot intrude at all, and water only becomes dangerous after prolonged immersion. A protection against touching is also included.
Rating Simplicity & security: 3,5

Interton Ready 280 HDO: Even a conversation with a person in a quiet environment can train the language center. Language itself can also be interpreted as sound. Here too, there is a need for an adjustment period. Additionally, it is necessary to understand the pronunciation of the other person, the dialect, and of course the language itself.
Extras
Lastly, we are interested if there are any additional goodies: Interton has integrated a noise generator that plays calming sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
A nice feature would be a remote maintenance service, allowing users to receive help from a hearing professional even when they cannot visit the store. Unfortunately, this service is not available here, so there are no extra points awarded.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Ready 280 HDO. It would have also been nice to have some lifestyle features, but those are not present in the Ready 280 HDO. Other hearing aids can offer features like speech translation or fall alerts, but here it remains within the usual range of functions.
Rating Extras: 3,3
Conclusion: Interton Ready 280 HDO
This test device ranks in the lower positions overall and lacks some features. We give it a score of 3.97. For less demanding listeners, this is acceptable, but for a very active lifestyle, we recommend a hearing aid with more extensive comfort features.
