The Oticon Own 2 ITE HS in review
Are you curious about this hearing aid from Oticon? Let's see what we have found out. The Own 2 ITE HS has been designed for almost every hearing need and is worn in the ear. It is a discreet hearing aid from the higher price segment.
Due to the direct placement in the ear canal, we achieve a good, clear sound.
Hearing comfort
A good speech understanding is, of course, a given in contemporary hearing aids. Equally important is hearing comfort. Only when the ratio of speech transmission to the level of background noise is right will hearing be perceived as pleasant. Therefore, we take a look at the comfort features: The Own 2 ITE HS offers the customer comprehensive noise management. Normal environmental noises such as street noise, vacuum cleaner noise, or noise from fans should be dampened by classic noise reduction. This Oticon hearing aid includes noteworthy and well-functioning noise attenuation.
In our test, we also discovered impulse sound control. Short, popping sounds are dampened by this. It works reasonably well here, but we are not in the top tier. A fairly solid wind management feature is available in the Own 2 ITE HS and should suffice for everyday use. Directional hearing often needs a bit of support for hearing aid users. The Own 2 ITE HS provides this support confidently and allows for good spatial orientation. A brilliant hearing experience is, among other things, based on the number of frequency bands. The more bands there are and the narrower the individual frequency channels, the better the hearing aid can be adapted to individual preferences. Here, we get as many as 20 bands. This not only allows for creating a great sound impression but also enables very careful speech and noise suppression.
Artificial intelligence has also found its way into hearing aids, for example, here in the Own 2 ITE HS. This provides significantly more data to identify speech and noise. From our experience, the sound of hearing aids with AI is perceived as particularly precise and realistic.

Oticon Own 2 ITE HS:
Operation & connectivity
The operating options for hearing aids today are as simple or as complex as anyone would like. The basic functions, of course, run fully automatically. We wanted to know how users can additionally access the Own 2 ITE HS. Usually, there is a button on the hearing aid, and we found it on the Own 2 as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button, and can also be deactivated if desired. A discreet way to change the hearing aid is through a remote control. It fits in any pocket. If the person you're talking to happens to speak too quietly, just one or two clicks are enough to adjust the volume. Additional hearing programs for listening to music or for driving can also be activated with the remote control.
In our tests, we did not find an option for voice control. This function is not necessarily needed, but we would have appreciated it nonetheless. In addition to buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids even have tap control. This means you can simply tap your ear briefly, and the device will switch. However, we don't have that here at Oticon; it would have required specific sensors.
Manual operation includes an app. This allows for discreet access to the hearing aid. In addition to volume adjustment, you can also set hearing programs and a few other functions. We really enjoyed the direct, wireless streaming. This means that calls from a smartphone are transmitted to the hearing aids without any additional accessories. This turns the hearing aid into a perfect hands-free system or wireless headphones. Listening to music or watching and hearing videos is also incredibly comfortable.

Extras
Finally, let's briefly see if there are any extras available: We noticed the tinnitus option here. Anyone who likes can have a special tinnitus program set up. This gently adds a soft noise to the ears to distract a bit from the annoying tinnitus. The sounds can be customized to personal hearing preferences.
A very good added benefit is provided by the remote maintenance offer. Through the app, you can get in touch with your audiologist and describe your hearing problem. They can adjust the settings accordingly and upload them to the hearing aids via the app. For people with little time or a long commute, this is a great service.
A new trend in the hearing aid industry is integrated sensors, which can track some personal health data, for example. However, the Own 2 ITE HS does not offer this. You should take a closer look at the app of this Oticon device. There are actually some extras included that significantly expand the functionality of these hearing aids. We really think these additional features are great!
