The Oticon Xceed UP 1 HDO 675 in review
We are once again looking at an earlier widely used hearing aid for almost every hearing need: This model is called Xceed UP 1 HDO 675 and comes from the company Oticon. It is worn behind the ear, and it is a conventionally sized hearing aid. The Xceed UP 1 HDO 675 is a model from the premium segment. Let's see if the pricing is justified.
Hearing comfort
First, we assess the hearing comfort features. What types of noise does the hearing aid recognize? How does it handle them? Is the hearing aid suitable for a varied daily life? Here with this test device, we found very few options for influencing comfort. As in all hearing aids, we also find the typical noise cancellation here. It is intended to reduce monotonous, noisy background sounds to the point where they no longer stand out. With the Xceed UP 1 HDO 675, we shouldn't expect too much. Speech and sounds are quite close together here. But in acoustically simple situations, that should be sufficient.
There is a basic wind noise reduction. Outside, this is quite useful, but it is actually not enough for a stronger autumn wind. When rattling, clattering sounds occur, the Oticon device activates its impulse sound dampener. Nevertheless, these sounds remain quite intense. We always take a close look at the number of equalizer bands. They are important for adjusting the sound of a hearing aid as precisely as possible to the hearing curve. Additionally, speech noise management also takes place within these bands. The Xceed UP 1 HDO 675 has 14 of them. That's okay. We miss a good spatial sound, but the automatic focus can indeed be helpful in situations with multiple people.
Sometimes we experience hearing aids that process data very successfully with the help of artificial intelligence, but this is not the case with this device yet.

Oticon Xceed UP 1 HDO 675:
Operation & connectivity
The majority of functions are activated automatically by this Oticon model. However, it is sometimes very useful to be able to expand the range of functions a bit more. In the test, we found out what options we have here. Usually, there is a button on the hearing aid, and we found one on the Xceed UP 1 as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button and can also be deactivated if desired. We do enjoy small remote controls, and we have found one for this model. This allows for discreet minor adjustments to the volume or sound.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but unfortunately, this one from Oticon cannot yet. It would be practical if fingers are not very mobile or if one simply likes smart gadgets. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, a tap control might be conceivable, which would trigger a specific function by tapping the ear with the fingers. However, this option is not available in the Xceed UP 1 HDO 675.
As is common today, we also find a smartphone app for the Xceed UP 1 HDO 675. This app includes solid basic functions and adds a few extras on top. For our digital everyday life, a streaming option would be nice. The device at hand meets our wish and comes with a 2.4 GHz radio module. With this, you can send phone calls and sounds directly from the smartphone to the hearing aids.

Simplicity & security
Another point in our checklist is handleability. Does everything work simply and reliably? What does the hearing aid offer to ensure safe use in everyday life? We rank the situation recognition integrated into the Xceed UP 1 HDO 675 in the middle range. The most important loud and quiet situations are detected and adapted. However, this is not quite sufficient for acoustically more complex moments, as additional manual adjustment options are necessary. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It raises the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This greatly facilitates the adjustment to the new sound.
The Xceed UP 1 HDO 675 is not equipped with a rechargeable battery, so it is not rechargeable. It is powered by a hearing aid battery size 675. It needs to be replaced every few days.
The Xceed UP 1 is almost dust and waterproof and, with its IP 68 classification, is certainly well protected against external influences.
Rating Simplicity & security: 2,3
Extras
Finally, let's take a quick look at whether there are any extras available: A special tinnitus program can be programmed into the Xceed UP 1 HDO 675 upon request. This allows for the generation of stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from the tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and gladly award extra points.
We find the remote maintenance service offered quite intriguing. If one doesn’t have the opportunity to visit the audiologist, they can instead contact them via the app, briefly describe their hearing problem, and receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they can upload it to their hearing aids.
Many hearing aids still come with a few health functions today. However, since the Xceed UP 1 HDO 675 does not have any special sensors for this, we cannot present any particular features here. We were really impressed with the additional functions that are included in the Xceed UP 1 HDO 675. Various assistants support your daily life beyond hearing and can be configured in the app. Such hearing aids are hard to let go of. By the way, these lifestyle functions are often still being developed, so it’s possible that they may change with updates.
