Could this hearing aid from the Philips program be the right one for you? In our review of the HearLink 9010 MNR, we have highlighted the most important aspects. Here we have a small, barely visible hearing aid from the high-end category that is worn behind the ear. The direct orientation of the speaker in the ear canal lays the foundation for good hearing success, as the sound has a very short distance to travel to the eardrum. This way, all sounds reach us exactly where we want them.

The HearLink 9010 MNR provides sufficient amplification for moderate hearing needs.

Hearing comfort

In the Hearing Comfort section, we look at how a hearing aid deals with all the background noise. Comfortable noise management significantly contributes to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. With this Philips device, solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional is possible. The regular noise suppression serves to mitigate uniform, hissing background noises. In the HearLink 9010 MNR, the ambient noise is processed in such a way that relaxed listening is possible.

We are pleased to find good and efficient impulse sound damping here. This is definitely useful in everyday life, as it noticeably absorbs slamming doors, clattering dishes, or similarly loud noises. A decent wind management system helps to suppress small turbulence at the hearing aid microphones. For all outdoor enthusiasts, this feature is indispensable. Spatial hearing works very reliably. Directional hearing is supported, and the spatial impression is good. The HearLink 9010 MNR is one of the good hearing aids, at least in terms of the number of frequency channels. With 16 channels, it is well equipped for precise adaptation to personal sound preferences.

Philips does not yet work with artificial intelligence in this version.

Operation & connectivity

Almost everyone of us owns a smartphone, so the question arises whether it can be connected to the new hearing aid. Let's take a look at how the HearLink 9010 MNR performs in terms of connectivity and usability. First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very practical, as it's the simplest and quickest way to make adjustments. The volume can be adjusted through this, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If you prefer not to make adjustments directly on the ear, you can of course disable the button. The small remote control, which is available as an option, is very handy. For us, it’s one of the most convenient ways to increase or decrease the hearing aid volume or switch to another hearing program. No one notices, and reaching for the ear is not necessary.

Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but this one from Philips unfortunately cannot yet. It would be practical for those whose fingers are not as nimble anymore or for those who simply like smart gadgets. Tap Control would have also been an interesting feature. With that, you could change the function with a quick tap on your ear. However, this is not available in the HearLink 9010 MNR yet.

The app is definitely very useful. Anyone with a smartphone should download it. Even though the app is not one of our favorites, it is still a helpful addition to the HearLink 9010 MNR. The HearLink 9010 comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows us to enjoy binaural phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over normal hearing individuals. We appreciate that and are happy to give points.

The best alternatives to the HearLink 9010 MNR

Our database contains 13 reviews of hearing aids with similar technical features to this one (i.e., Lautsprecher im Gehörgang positioniert in Size "", not rechargable, geeignet für Hörverlust-Grad leicht & mittel). Here are the top 3 (Redaktionsstand 02.10.2025):

Audio Service: Zwei Akku Hörgeräte Audio Service Duo mit Dünnschlauch Philips HearLink 7010 MNR Rating: 3 / 5

Simplicity & security

Another point on our checklist is handling. Does everything work easily and reliably? What does the hearing aid offer to ensure safe application in daily life? A well-functioning situation recognition already brings a lot of relaxation to hearing in everyday life. You don't have to constantly switch on the device and can easily give in to automated adjustments. The adaptation to the new hearing experience is supported by a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely noticeable steps until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I don't have to do anything other than wear my hearing aids regularly.

Zinc-air batteries power the HearLink 9010 MNR. Changing the batteries could become quite difficult for people with limited dexterity or vision. If you have concerns about this, it's better to look for a rechargeable model.

We had a carefree everyday life during our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands – no problem at all. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to foamy bathwater or saltwater.

Extras

Sometimes hearing aids come with additional features that can be quite useful. Let's see how this Philips device performs: we would have liked to discover a tinnitus program at this point, but unfortunately, there isn't one.

A clever tool is the integrated remote maintenance service. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a precious commodity. That's why such a remote maintenance service is absolutely appropriate. Anyone who needs a new programming for their hearing aids can easily contact the acoustician via the app and describe their hearing preferences. Through a cloud service, the professional can then send a customized setting as a data package to the app. From there, it is loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tried out immediately. That definitely deserves extra points in our test.

Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Philips model lacks the necessary sensors for this service. You should take a closer look at the app for this Philips device. It contains a few extras that significantly expand the functionality of these hearing aids. We really think these additional features are great!
