We get a hearing aid of small size and excellent quality that is worn behind the ear. The smart decision to place the speaker directly in the ear canal lays the foundation for a good hearing success, as the sound has only a very short distance to travel to the eardrum. This ensures that all sounds reach us exactly where we want them.

What is most bothersome for hearing aid users? Exactly, background noise. That's why we first look at what comfort features the test device includes. We were impressed with the excellent sound management of the Audeo Lumity 90 RT. There is definitely a normal noise suppression function present. It is supposed to dampen constant noises like street noise or the sound of the air conditioning. In our test device from Phonak, it really does that, and much more effectively than in most other hearing aids.
Once you have experienced impulse noise suppression in a hearing aid, you don’t want to give it up. The Audeo Lumity 90 RT has such a feature and can easily handle all short and intense sound events. This includes things like dishes clattering in the kitchen or footsteps on a hard floor. We are thrilled with how well this hearing aid suppresses wind noise and how stable the device operates even in stronger winds. For a precise, lifelike listening experience, the number of adjustable frequency bands is very important. With 20, this Phonak device is a true top model and allows for differentiated fine-tuning over several years. The hearing aid receives a big plus for its outstanding 3D sound. Flexible, highly adaptive directional microphones allow for various directivity characteristics and automatically adjust to the requirements of the specific situation.
Artificial intelligence has also made its way into hearing aids, for instance, here in the Audeo Lumity 90 RT. This provides much more data to identify speech and noise. In our experience, the sound of hearing aids with AI is perceived as particularly precise and realistic.

Operation & connectivity
The majority of the features of this Phonak model are activated automatically. However, it can be very useful to be able to expand the functionality a bit. In our test, we discovered what options we have here. First, we found a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very sensible as it is the easiest and quickest way to make changes. The volume can be adjusted using this button, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If you prefer not to adjust anything directly on your ear, you can of course disable the button. We do like small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows for discreet adjustments to the volume or sound.
This device from Phonak can be controlled by voice command. This very modern method of controlling hearing aids is really convenient and especially fast. We were quite impressed with the tap control during our test. Simply tap your ear briefly, and your Phonak hearing aid knows to take action. We were already familiar with this sensor-controlled technology from wireless headphones, and it's great that this is now also available in hearing aids.
Apps for hearing aids are widely available today. The one for the Audeo Lumity 90 RT sparked our playful side. It's fun to use this app as it expands the functionality of the hearing aid with a few very useful tools. A streaming option would be great for our digital everyday life. This device fulfills our wish and comes with a 2.4 GHz wireless module, allowing you to send phone calls and sounds directly from your smartphone to the hearing aids.

Let's continue with the test: How does it stand in terms of user-friendliness? Is it easy or complicated to use the hearing aid? With top-class situational awareness, the Audeo Lumity 90 RT has completely convinced us. The hearing aid seamlessly adapts to the acoustic environment and requires almost no intervention from us. Listening feels completely normal. Some people find it difficult to adjust, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume. There is a familiarization manager that gradually guides us to the required target gain. The duration can last a few weeks or even several months, and it is individually adjustable. The individual steps are so small that you don't even notice when there has been an increase in volume.
The Audeo Lumity 90 RT is rechargeable and no longer requires batteries. This is not only environmentally friendly but also very convenient to use and frees me from the burden of constantly thinking about battery supply.
With an IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand many adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it can withstand prolonged submersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.

Auch Hörgeräteträger, die einen längeren Anfahrtsweg zum Fachgeschäft haben, profitieren von diesem besonderen Service.
