Phonak introduces the Virto Marvel 30 10 NW O, a model from the lower mid-range. It can compensate for mild to moderate hearing loss. It is a small mini hearing aid that delivers good sound by being positioned directly in the ear canal. It is worn in the ear.
Hearing comfort
The comfort features determine how pleasant hearing is experienced in everyday life. In this hearing aid, we find only the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. A classic noise suppression should reduce annoying background noises to a bearable level. The Virto Marvel 30 10 NW O has a rather simple form of noise suppression, which should be sufficient for normal environments. Unfortunately, this hearing aid does not yet include wind noise suppression. That's a pity.
A filter for clattering or banging noises is not present here – unfortunately, no points for that. Spatial hearing with the Virto Marvel 30 10 NW O happens in a completely natural way. Due to the special placement deep in the ear canal, the function of the outer ear is preserved, and there are no losses in directional hearing. The 8 frequency channels are okay. However, it could be the case that the programming for individual hearing needs is not quite as precise, and there might be some compromises in sound quality.
An exciting topic in hearing acoustics is the use of artificial intelligence, but this feature is not yet applied in this Phonak model.

Everyone has their own hearing needs. It is advantageous to be able to customize hearing aids beyond their automatic functions. In our tests, we discovered the following access options: There is a button directly on the hearing aid. This allows you to change the volume or activate additional hearing programs. It can be programmed according to customer preferences. Using it is, of course, optional. We really like the small remote controls, and for this model, we have found one. This allows for discreet adjustments to the volume or sound.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but this one from Phonak unfortunately cannot yet. It would be practical for those whose fingers are less mobile or who simply enjoy smart gadgets. Another option for controlling the hearing aids is a tap control. You just tap your fingers on your ear, which triggers a specific function. However, this option is not available in this Phonak device.
We searched in the app store for an app for further adjustments in vain; we had hoped for something different. If you were looking forward to wireless streaming, we unfortunately have to disappoint you, as a wireless module was not integrated here.

The Virto Marvel 30 10 NW O features a solid everyday automatic that is likely sufficient for a calmer life. However, for more complex listening environments, we recommend the additional manual programs. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new auditory impressions.
The Virto Marvel 30 10 NW O is not rechargeable. It continues to get its energy from disposable batteries size 10, which need to be replaced every few days.
The Virto Marvel 30 is nearly dust and water resistant and with its IP 68 classification, it is certainly well protected against external influences.

Before we come to the conclusion, let's take a look at the extras: A special tinnitus program can be programmed into the Virto Marvel 30 10 NW O upon request. With this, stimulating, pleasant sounds can be generated that distract from the tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and are happy to award extra points.
A nice feature would be a remote service to get help from a hearing professional even when you can't go to the store. But unfortunately, this is not available here, so there are no extra points.
If Phonak had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, it could even allow for individual health tracking. However, this is not the case here. These points are lost for the Virto Marvel 30 10 NW O in the evaluation. The functionality of the Virto Marvel 30 10 NW O is limited to normal hearing, which is completely fine. Additional functions like fall alerts or Siri connections do provide some value, but they are not relevant for good hearing balance.
