Here we take a look at a hearing aid from the upper price segment that is worn in the ear. It is called Virto Marvel 70 10 NW O and is produced by the manufacturer Phonak. It can be used by anyone with mild to moderate hearing loss who desires a small hearing aid in a very slim design. Due to the hardly noticeable wear location in the ear canal, it has very good sound properties.

The Virto Marvel 70 10 NW O allows for solid comfort programming by the audiologist. Normal noise suppression is definitely present. It is designed to dampen constant noises like street noise or the sound of the air conditioning. In our test device from Phonak, the noise suppression can be adjusted to the customer's preferences.
The burst filter in this hearing aid is quite solid and suitable for everyday use. We searched in vain for wind management; there is no wind noise suppression here. 16 adjustable equalizer bands provide enough flexibility to create a reliable, tailored listening experience. With the Virto Marvel 70 10 NW O, you don’t have to reconstruct 3D hearing, as it remains intact. This is made possible by its deep fit in the ear canal.
An exciting topic in audiology is the use of artificial intelligence, but this Phonak model does not yet implement it.
The operating system of this hearing aid is AutoSense 3.0. The new version of this software runs in the Phonak hearing aids of the Paradise family.

Most hearing aids automatically adapt to their environment. However, it is sometimes very practical to make adjustments oneself. After all, the hearing aid does not know how you are feeling at the moment. We looked at the control options offered by the Virto Marvel 70 10 NW O: For those who want to quickly and easily increase or decrease the volume, there is a button on the device. You can also select additional programs for special hearing situations through it. Those who prefer not to touch their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for convenient and discreet adjustments to the hearing aid.
In the test, we found no voice control option. This function is not necessarily needed, but we would have appreciated it nonetheless. Besides buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids also have tap control. This means you can simply tap your ear briefly to switch the device. However, this is not available here at Phonak, as it would have required specific sensors.
Quickly adjusting the volume via an app is unfortunately not possible with the Virto Marvel 70 10 NW O. There is no app available for this purpose. However, this is irrelevant if you are not a smartphone user anyway. There is no connection option to other audio sources here. It's a pity, because a wireless streaming function would have offered real added value.

With top-class situational awareness, the Virto Marvel 70 10 NW O has completely convinced us. The hearing aid seamlessly adapts to the acoustic environment and requires our intervention almost never. Hearing feels completely normal. The acclimatization to the new hearing sensation is supported by this device with a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely perceptible steps until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I only need to regularly wear my hearing aids.
The Virto Marvel 70 10 NW O is not rechargeable. It continues to receive its power from disposable batteries of size 10, which need to be changed every few days.
With an IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it also withstands submersion in water for extended periods, and it is protected against contact as well.

In conclusion, we want to know if the hearing aid perhaps offers any specials: Phonak has integrated a sound generator that plays soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
An online contact with the hearing care professional via the app would be very useful. This is quite common today and helps with minor adjustment issues. Unfortunately, Phonak does not offer this and therefore does not earn any extra points.
Many hearing aids today still come with some health features. However, since the Virto Marvel 70 10 NW O does not have any special sensors for that, we cannot present any particular features here. This Phonak hearing aid does not come with any additional lifestyle options. Other devices may include voice assistants or reminder functions, but these are not necessary for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
