What hearing comfort does the Key 4 61-DRWC offer? How is it operated? Is it worth acquiring? Answers to these questions can be found in our test report on this hearing aid from ReSound. What is most bothersome for hearing aid users: Exactly, background noise. Therefore, we first look at what comfort features the test device contains. In the Key 4 61-DRWC, we find only the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. A normal noise suppression is definitely present. It is supposed to dampen constant noises like street noise or the hum of the air conditioning. In our test device from ReSound, a simple noise reduction is integrated by the manufacturer, but it cannot be further adjusted.
AImpulse sound filter is also supposed to be implemented. It dampens short, clattering noises only very little, so it's not really helpful. In the Key 4 61-DRWC, we do have wind reduction, but it doesn't really work outdoors. We always take a close look at the number of equalizer bands. They are important for adapting the sound of a hearing aid as accurately as possible to the hearing curve. Additionally, the speech noise management also takes place within these bands. The Key 4 61-DRWC has 12 of them. That's okay. We miss a good spatial sound, but the automatic focus can be quite helpful in situations with multiple people.
Other hearing aids already use artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but the Key 4 61-DRWC does not yet incorporate this strategy.

Operation & connectivity
The majority of the features are activated automatically by this ReSound model. However, it can be quite useful to have the option to expand the functionality a bit. In our test, we found out what options we have here. First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very practical, as it is the easiest and quickest way to make adjustments. The volume can be adjusted using this button, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If you prefer not to make adjustments directly at the ear, the button can of course be deactivated. A remote control is available for the Key 4 61-DRWC. It is quite handy, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume control option as well as various hearing programs.
We always appreciate it when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control here. But that is currently not available in the Key 4 61-DRWC. Tap Control would have also been an interesting feature. With this, you can change the functionality with a quick tap on the ear. But that is not available in the Key 4 61-DRWC yet.
You can best adjust the Key 4 61-DRWC using the associated app. Earlier apps barely had a screen, but this one offers far more than just the usual volume control function. Clearly, we give points for that. You don't need headphones anymore because it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone into your ears – if the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

Of course, we are also interested in how quickly one can get used to the Key 4 61-DRWC and how easy daily use is. An automatic situation recognition is only rudimentarily integrated into the Key 4 61-DRWC. We often have to rely on manual options and adjust our hearing aid to the environments ourselves. A great feature of this hearing aid is the automatic acclimatization. Especially if one has been hearing poorly for a long time and is then using a hearing aid for the first time, this is an enormous relief. The volume does not need to be raised immediately to the maximum. You can start at a lower level and gradually and almost imperceptibly, the amplification approaches the target.
The Key 4 61-DRWC has a battery. We find this very good, as rechargeable hearing aids are absolutely modern. You don't have to have batteries lying around everywhere and also don't have to change the battery in the middle of a concert. The hearing aid is simply placed in the charging station overnight and has enough energy for the following day.
The hearing aid has been classified in the IP protection class 68. This guarantees comprehensive protection against dust ingress. Water can also not easily harm the hearing aid. Thus, it is well-equipped for outdoor activities where it can get wet and dirty. However, you should not necessarily bathe or swim with the hearing aids. Bath additives or the salt content in seawater can alter their composition and ultimately cause harm.

Am Ende unseres Testberichtes gibt es noch ein bisschen Platz für die Extra-Features: Ein spezielles Tinnitusprogramm ist im Key 4 61-DRWC auf Wunsch programmierbar. Damit können stimulierende, angenehme Geräusche generiert werden, die vom Tinnitus ablenken, wenn er mal wieder besonders stark ist. Das finden wir sehr nützlich und vergeben gerne Extrapunkte.
Spannend finden wir den Fernwartungsdienst, den man in Anspruch nehmen kann. Wenn man keine Gelegenheit hat, zum Hörakustiker zu fahren, kontaktiert man ihn stattdessen über die App, beschreibt kurz sein Hörproblem und erhält anschließend ein Datenpaket mit einer neuen Hörgerätkonfiguration. Wenn die sich gut anhört, lädt man sie in seine Hörgeräte.
Ein neuer Trend in der Hörgerätebranche sind integrierte Sensoren, mit denen z.B. ein paar persönliche Gesundheitsdaten getrackt werden können. Das hat das Key 4 61-DRWC aber nicht im Angebot. Der Funktionsumfang im Key 4 61-DRWC beschränkt sich auf das normale Hören, was auch völlig in Ordnung ist. Zusatzfunktionen wie Sturzalarm oder Siri-Verknüpfungen haben schon einen ordentlichen Mehrwert, sind aber für einen guten Hörausgleich nicht relevant.

Im Gesamtergebnis landet dieses Testgerät auf den hinteren Plätzen und lässt einige Ausstattungsmerkmale vermissen. Wir vergeben die Note 3,63. Für anspruchsarme Hörer ist das in Ordnung, für einen sehr aktiven Lebensstil empfehlen wir allerdings ein Hörgerät mit umfangreicheren Komfortmerkmalen.
