This test report is about the Nexia 7 CIC. It was developed by ReSound and covers almost every hearing need. This variant is worn in the ear. The Nexia 7 CIC is a small hearing aid with a very slim design from the high-end price segment. We achieve clean sound transmission through the wearing position directly in the ear canal.

Hearing comfort

In the section on hearing comfort, we look at how a hearing aid manages all the background noise. Comfortable noise management significantly contributes to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. With this ReSound device, the manufacturer provides the customer with comprehensive sound management. The regular noise suppression aims to soften uniform, hissing background noises. In the Nexia 7 CIC, we are satisfied with the effectiveness of the noise suppression. It can not only be turned on or off, but also adjusted stepwise.

Quickly occurring, clattering sounds are noticeably and sufficiently dampened, which we find pleasant. A fairly solid wind management feature is available in the Nexia 7 CIC and should be adequate for everyday use. Spatial hearing occurs naturally with the Nexia 7 CIC. Due to its unique placement deep in the ear canal, the function of the outer ear remains intact, and there is no loss in directional hearing. With 14 frequency bands, one can achieve quite a good sound. An avid musician may not be completely satisfied with this, but for normal hearing and sound needs, this number is more than sufficient.

The signal processing is based, among other things, on typical frequency patterns of speech and noise, but artificial intelligence is not yet in use here.

Operation & connectivity

Sometimes it's not so bad to be able to adjust the volume of the hearing aid a bit, for example, when the neighbor is loudly mowing the lawn or someone is speaking very quietly to you. Many models therefore have special operating functions. You can use them, but you don't have to. We looked at this with the Nexia 7 CIC: The simplest operating option is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has it too. It can be programmed according to your wishes. Do you want a manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for gradual volume adjustment. Or do you need different special programs for your professional life or hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. If you want to leave everything in automatic mode, you can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. Is the Nexia 7 remote-controlled? Unfortunately not, there is no suitable device available.

We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control here. But there is currently none in the Nexia 7 CIC. In addition to buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids also have a tap control. This means you can simply tap your ear briefly, and then the device switches. However, we don't have this at ReSound, as it would have required very specific sensors.

If you're looking for an app, unfortunately, you won't find one here. The Nexia 7 CIC has to do without smart operating functions. This point is lost. Unfortunately, we have to forgo a streaming function here and continue to hold the smartphone normally to our ear.

Simplicity & security

For the next chapter, we subjected the hearing aid to a small practical test. We wanted to know whether it is easy to use in everyday life and straightforward. A reliable situation automatic gives the Nexia 7 CIC important points in terms of simplicity. Most hearing situations are well recognized, so manual adjustments are rarely necessary. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It gradually increases the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This significantly eases the adjustment to the new sound.

Nexia 7 CIC relies on battery power instead of rechargeable batteries. Advantage: Very long runtime with one battery. Unlike rechargeable solutions, you rarely have to worry about the power supply. Disadvantage: Waste in the form of used batteries is generated. This hearing aid uses a hearing aid battery size 10.

The hearing aid has been classified in the IP protection class 68. This guarantees comprehensive protection against dust infiltration. Water also cannot easily harm the hearing aid. Thus, it is well equipped for outdoor activities where it may get wet and dirty. However, do not go swimming or bathing with the hearing aids. Bath additives or the salt content in seawater can alter the composition and could ultimately cause damage.

Extras

Wir sind schon fast am Ende, aber vielleicht hat dieses Gerät noch ein paar Geschenke in Form von Extra-Features? Lassen Sie uns mal nachschauen: Richtig gut gefallen hat uns das optionale Tinnitusprogramm. Es gibt doch relativ viele Menschen, die gelegentlich oder häufig von einem Pfeifen oder Rauschen im Ohr geplagt sind. Das Tinnitusprogramm im Nexia 7 CIC ist eigentlich nichts weiter als ein Klanggenerator. Es geht darum, breitbandige Geräusche oder Klänge zu erzeugen, die sanft und angenehm alle Hörbereiche stimulieren. Der Tinnitus geht darin unter und wird nicht mehr als störend wahrgenommen.

Ein schönes Feature wäre ein Fernwartungsservice, um sich vom Hörprofi auch dann helfen zu lassen, wenn man gerade nicht ins Geschäft kommen kann. Aber leider gibt es das hier nicht, also gibt es auch keinen Extrapunkt.

Hätte ReSound Bewegungssensoren in dieses Hörgerät integriert, dann könnte sogar ein individuelles Gesundheits-Tracking erfolgen. Das ist hier aber nicht der Fall. Diese Punkte gehen dem Nexia 7 CIC in der Wertung verloren. Der Funktionsumfang im Nexia 7 CIC beschränkt sich auf das normale Hören, was auch völlig in Ordnung ist. Zusatzfunktionen wie Sturzalarm oder Siri-Verknüpfungen haben schon einen ordentlichen Mehrwert, sind aber für einen guten Hörausgleich nicht relevant.

Mit der Endnote 2,89 behauptet sich dieses Modell im mittleren Bereich. Es hat eine ganz passable Komfortausstattung mit an Bord, die für die typischen Alltagsmomente reicht und ein zufriedenstellendes Hörerlebnis schafft.
