We are once again looking at a conventional hearing aid for both mild and more severe hearing needs: This model is called Quattro NEO 5 67-DWT and comes from the company ReSound. It is worn behind the ear and is a small, barely visible hearing aid. The Quattro NEO 5 67-DWT is a model from the low-budget range. Let’s see if the pricing classification is justified.
Hearing comfort
First, we assess the hearing comfort features. What types of sounds does the hearing aid recognize? How does it handle them? Is the hearing aid suitable for a varied daily life? Here with this test device, we found very few options for influencing comfort. As in all hearing aids, we also find the typical noise suppression here. It is intended to reduce monotonous, noisy background sounds to the point where they no longer dominate. In the Quattro NEO 5 67-DWT, the background noise suppression delivers a rather moderate performance. If you are not too sensitive to noise, that might be sufficient.
The device from ReSound can also detect wind noise, but there is only a very slight reduction in noise thereafter. It is enough for regular everyday use, but true outdoor enthusiasts will not be satisfied with it. Unfortunately, an impulse sound suppressor is not included in the Quattro NEO 5 67-DWT. A decent foundation for programming the Quattro NEO 5 67-DWT is provided by the 12 equalizer bands. As sound junkies, we would wish for a few more, but for the typical situations we encounter in our daily lives, it can create a fairly reasonable sound image. The adjustable microphones assist in recognizing specific directions and can also help with noise cancellation, but the spatial sound was not very natural.
Other hearing aids are already using artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but this strategy is not yet incorporated into the Quattro NEO 5 67-DWT.

How can one fully exploit the potential of hearing aids in everyday life? We found out what accessibility options are available with the Quattro NEO 5 67-DWT. A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can adjust the volume up or down in several steps. Additional programs for special hearing situations can also be activated with it. Those who want to do without the button can simply have it deactivated. Those who are not keen on touching their ear to adjust the volume will be pleased with the optional remote control. This allows for convenient and discreet adjustments to the hearing aid.
In our test, we found no option for voice control. This function is not necessarily required, but we would have appreciated it nonetheless. There is no control of the hearing aids with a simple tap of a finger in this ReSound model, as specific sensors in the housing would have been needed for that.
As expected, we find a suitable application for the smartphone. Here we are dealing with a powerful app that expects a lot from its user and provides an extensive toolkit. One of the best features of the hearing aid is the direct streaming function. This turns the hearing aid into a TrueWireless headset, receiving phone calls and other sounds directly in the ear. The prerequisite is a suitable smartphone that contains 2.4 GHz technology. The biggest advantage is that you can hear phone calls not only in one ear but in both. Additionally, the sound can be tailored to personal needs.

The Quattro NEO 5 67-DWT is not rechargeable; it operates with hearing aid batteries. Unlike a rechargeable battery, it does not need to be charged daily, but the size 312 battery will need to be replaced after a few days.
We had a carefree daily life during our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and subsequently took the hearing aids out with wet hands - all no problem. However, the water resistance only applies to fresh, natural water and not to soapy bathwater or saltwater.

Before we come to the end, let's take a look at the extras: Here we noticed the tinnitus option. If desired, one can set up a special tinnitus program. It produces a gentle noise to distract a little from the annoying tinnitus. The sounds can be tailored to personal hearing preferences.
ReSound keeps up with the times and offers a forward-looking feature with the remote adjustment service. Working people with little time can contact their audiologist online and have their hearing aids reprogrammed. Hearing aid users who have a longer journey to the specialized store also benefit from this special service.
A new trend in the hearing aid industry is integrated sensors that can track personal health data, for example. However, the Quattro NEO 5 67-DWT does not offer this. The hearing aid also forgoes additional features such as special assistance systems, a fall alert, or language translators. This is not particularly problematic, as it does not affect the important hearing functions.
