Hearing comfort

So let's take a look at noise management: In this model that ReSound offers, we only find the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. Of course, noise suppression is integrated to reduce stressful background noises. In the Savi 2 61-DRW we do have noise reduction, but it doesn't seem very strong and is not adjustable. This hearing aid can detect wind noise, but the reduction is barely noticeable.
Points are deducted for the lack of impulse noise suppression. Normally, this dampens short, rattling sounds. But those who choose this hearing aid should not be disturbed by that. Unfortunately, nothing can be said about spatial hearing here, as the microphones have no additional features that could enhance directional hearing. With 10 frequency bands, we are not entirely satisfied with the 61-DRW, but for uncomplicated hearing curves, that should probably suffice. The sound will likely not be entirely natural.

We looked at the control options offered by the Savi 2 61-DRW: For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume up or down, there is a button on the device. You can also select additional programs for special listening situations through it. A discreet way to change the hearing aid is with the remote control. It fits in any pocket. If the person you’re talking to is speaking too quietly again, one or two clicks are enough to adjust the volume. Additional listening programs for music or driving can also be activated with the remote control.
The modern form of voice command control is not found in the Savi 2 61-DRW yet. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, tap control could be possible, which would mean triggering a specific function by tapping your fingers on your ear. However, this option is not available in the Savi 2 61-DRW.

Here's what we found: When it comes to adapting to changing listening situations, we have to rely on manual options with the Savi 2 61-DRW. An automatic situation recognition feature would definitely have made life easier, but it is not present here. Some people struggle with getting used to it, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume. There is a familiarization manager that gradually introduces us to the required target amplification. The period can last a few weeks or even several months, which is individually adjustable. The individual steps are so small that one does not even notice that there has been an increase in volume.
Many hearing aids today have a rechargeable battery, but the Savi 2 61-DRW continues to be powered by disposable batteries. This is somewhat cumbersome to handle and also puts additional strain on the environment.
We had a carefree everyday experience in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands - all no problem. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to soapy bath water or saltwater.
Battery-operated hearing aids are ready to use immediately and require no charging time – ideal when you need to act quickly. However, regular battery replacement requires some attention and finesse.

Working people with little time can contact their audiologist online and have their hearing aids reprogrammed. Hearing aid users who have a longer journey to the specialist store also benefit from this special service.
