The Signia Insio 2 AX Charge&Go in review

Diese Technik ist bereits etwas veraltet und erhält daher einen Abzug in der Gesamtbewertung. Neuer und besser ist der aktuelle Signia IX-Chip.

Are you curious about this hearing aid from Signia? Let's see what we have found out. The Insio 2 AX Charge&Go was designed for almost every hearing need and it is worn in the ear. It is a discreet hearing aid in a price range slightly above the average.
Due to its direct placement in the ear canal, we have a good, clear sound.

Hearing comfort

We all agree that speech understanding is the most important task of hearing aids. However, from our experience in the hearing acoustic retail business, we also know that listening comfort is at least equally important. It's about processing background noise so that it doesn't hinder speech understanding while still creating a natural sound experience. When testing the Insio 2 AX Charge&Go, we found few options for influencing comfort. Let's take a look at the individual features:

Of course, this Signia device has noise suppression, as this has become standard. Noise suppression means that uniform and rather monotonous sounds (e.g., air conditioning, vacuum cleaner ...) are dampened. We are not particularly pampered here, but we can live well with basic noise suppression.

The Insio 2 AX Charge&Go also features impulse sound suppression. It reliably detects short, clattering noises, but the attenuation is rather minimal. We are happy that wind reduction is included in the Insio 2 AX Charge&Go. Let's briefly look at the equalizer: With 8 bands, it is not particularly flexible. With a few more channels, we would surely have obtained a nicer, more natural sound experience. But at least, we can already reasonably adjust the sound to our hearing preferences. The hearing aid can automatically orient itself towards the speaker opposite, but we do not receive much more support for spatial hearing from the Insio 2 AX Charge&Go.

If the listening comfort is ever insufficient, you can make further personal adjustments in the app. There is a special mode that utilizes artificial intelligence. This allows countless real sound data to be used to provide you with targeted and effective assistance.

Operation & connectivity

Digital hearing aids have long evolved beyond the basic amplification function. Apps and other control options significantly expand their range of functions, which is why we also look at this important topic with the Insio 2 AX Charge&Go from Signia. A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can set it to be louder or quieter in several levels. Additional programs for specific listening situations can also be activated with it. If you want to do without the button, you can simply have it disabled. A remote control is available for the Insio 2 AX Charge&Go. It is quite practical, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume control option as well as various listening programs.

Voice commands are a fairly new method of controlling hearing aids. However, we do not have this option in this model yet. This is not a big deal - the main thing is that you can hear well. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of a finger, without needing to press a button. However, this feature has not yet been implemented here.

A manual control option includes an app. This allows for discreet access to the hearing aid. In addition to volume control, you can also adjust hearing programs and a few other functions. The Insio 2 AX comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows us to enjoy phone calls in stereo. This even gives us an advantage over normal hearing people. We think that's great and are happy to give points for it.

Simplicity & security

Let's continue with the test: How is the user-friendliness? Is it easy or complicated to handle the hearing aid? We expected a bit more support in everyday hearing with the automatic situation recognition. While the situations "Quiet" and "Noise" are recognized, the sound environment is usually a bit more complex. Very important to us in terms of simplicity is the support during the acclimatization period. Especially after having heard poorly for years, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a realistic volume. Our test device has an acclimatization manager that helps us through the adjustment phase with very small volume adjustments. After a few weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.

The Insio 2 AX Charge&Go comes with a charger, as it has built-in batteries. This is modern, user-friendly, and we expect this from a modern hearing aid.

Unfortunately, this hearing aid does not have any special protection against intrusive dust or moisture; at least, there is no certification defining the robustness of the device. It might not be well suited for an active lifestyle.

Extras

Sometimes there are additional features in hearing aids that can be quite useful. Let’s see how it is with this Signia device: Here we noticed the tinnitus option. Those who wish can set up a special tinnitus program. This gently plays a soft noise in the ears to help distract from the annoying tinnitus. The sounds can be tailored to personal hearing preferences.

We find the remote maintenance service exciting that can be utilized. If one has no opportunity to go to the hearing specialist, they can instead contact them via the app, briefly describe their hearing problem, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they can upload it to their hearing aids.

Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Signia model lacks the sensors for this service. It would have been nice to have a few lifestyle features as well, but those are not present in the Insio 2 AX Charge&Go. Other hearing aids can score points with features like language translation or fall alerts, but here it remains within the usual range of functions.

Conclusion: Signia Insio 2 AX Charge&Go

This test device ends up in the lower positions in the overall results and lacks some features. We award a grade of 3.52. This is acceptable for less demanding listeners, but for a very active lifestyle, we recommend a hearing aid with more extensive comfort features.
