We receive a small, hardly visible hearing aid at a rather affordable price that is worn in the ear. Due to the barely noticeable placement in the ear canal, the foundation for good hearing success is laid, as the sound has a very short way to travel to the eardrum. This ensures that all sounds reach the place we want them to.

Hearing comfort
What is most annoying for hearing aid users: Exactly, the background noise. That's why we first look at what comfort features the test device contains. In the Insio 2 IX CIC, we found very few options for comfort adjustment. A normal noise suppression feature is definitely present. It is supposed to dampen constant sounds like traffic noise or the humming of the air conditioning. In our test device from Signia, we have a rather simple form of noise suppression that should be sufficient for normal environments.
At least the Insio 2 IX CIC includes something called a bang filter. But is it always sufficient? The Insio 2 IX CIC does have wind reduction, but it doesn't really help outside. With 12 frequency bands, you can set a pretty good sound. A passionate musician may not be completely satisfied with it, but for normal hearing and sound needs, this number is more than adequate. In terms of spatial hearing, the Insio 2 IX CIC shows its full strength: The deep fit just before the eardrum allows sound capture as if it were an ear without a hearing aid. The outer ear naturally directs the sound into the ear canal, and the existing head shadow effects are still utilized. Such good 3D hearing could probably not be artificially created.
Signia does not yet use artificial intelligence in this version.

Occasionally, one finds oneself in situations where it would be good if the hearing aid were set differently. After all, we live in hectic times where the acoustic environment often changes. Most hearing aids have specific options for adjusting the settings oneself. This is how it looks with the Insio 2 IX CIC: The simplest way to operate is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This model has one as well. It can be programmed according to your wishes. Do you want manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for step-by-step adjustment of the volume. Or do you need various special programs for your professional daily life or hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. Anyone who prefers to keep everything in automatic mode can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. A remote control is available for the Insio 2 IX CIC. It's quite handy, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume up-down option as well as various hearing programs.
The modern form of operation via voice command is not yet found in the Insio 2 IX CIC. Besides buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids have a tap control. This means you can simply tap your ear briefly, and the device will switch. However, we don’t have that here at Signia, as specific sensors would have been needed for this.
We find the app for the Insio 2 IX CIC somewhat sparse. It’s best to check out the demo version before purchasing the hearing aid to see if it meets your needs. But we don't want to complain; the app is definitely useful. A wireless connection to a smartphone or laptop is not possible, as the corresponding hardware components are missing. You should think carefully about whether you can do without this feature, but why not give it a try.

We don’t necessarily experience simple, comfortable listening with the Insio 2 IX CIC. In a quieter daily life, it can be manageable, but once you have a varied hearing routine, you can't avoid manual adjustments. The integrated acclimatization manager can be a great help when entering the world of hearing aids. Its job is to gradually raise the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until the target volume is reached. This way, you can relax and gradually get used to the new sounds. We had a carefree daily life in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We walked through the rain and afterward took out the hearing aids with wet hands - no problem at all. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to foamy bathwater or saltwater.

There are quite a few people who are occasionally or frequently troubled by a ringing or buzzing in their ears. The tinnitus program in the Insio 2 IX CIC is actually nothing more than a sound generator. It aims to produce broad-band noises or sounds that gently and pleasantly stimulate all areas of hearing. The tinnitus gets drowned out and is no longer perceived as disruptive.
What about remote maintenance? Such online services save a visit to the specialist store because you can directly contact the acoustic professional through the app. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anything like that for the Insio 2 IX CIC. It's too bad; that would have been a great additional tool.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Insio 2 IX CIC. The device from Signia focuses on essential hearing functions and does not offer extras such as voice assistants or translation features. While that would have been fun, it is not necessary for a good hearing experience.
