The Insio 3 AX Charge&Go from Signia is a small hearing aid that is worn in the ear. By utilizing the quite comfortable position at the front of the ear canal, very good sound transmission is possible. The Insio 3 AX Charge&Go is a hearing aid from the higher mid-range and is suitable for nearly every hearing need.
Hearing comfort
In the Hearing Comfort section, we look at how a hearing aid handles all the background noise. Comfortable noise management significantly contributes to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. With this Signia device, solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional is possible. The regular background noise suppression is designed to mitigate uniform, white noise background sounds. In the Insio 3 AX Charge&Go, we are not dealing with the most powerful version, but it should be sufficient for everyday use.
The noise filter in this hearing aid is quite solid and suitable for everyday use. There is also wind management, which we find very good, as many people enjoy being outdoors. The reduction of wind noise occurs at a moderate level here. Spatial hearing needs a bit of training with these hearing aids. While the movable microphones help, their position at the top of the auricle means the spatial sound is not the same as that of a normally hearing person. However, after a short adjustment period, spatial hearing works quite well. We always take a close look at the number of equalizer bands. They are important for adapting the sound of a hearing aid as closely as possible to the hearing curve. Additionally, speech noise management also takes place within these bands. The Insio 3 AX Charge&Go has 12 of them. That is acceptable.
The app also includes a special help function that is based on artificial intelligence. This allows you to find a very personal setting for your hearing aids that significantly improves hearing comfort in a specific moment or typical situation.

Operation & connectivity
The operation options for hearing aids are as simple or as complex as anyone would like them to be today. The basic functions run fully automatically, of course. We wanted to find out how users can access the Insio 3 AX Charge&Go beyond that. First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very practical, as it is the easiest and fastest way to make adjustments. The volume can be adjusted through it, and various hearing programs can also be activated. If someone prefers not to adjust anything directly on the ear, the button can of course be deactivated. A remote control is available for the Insio 3 AX Charge&Go. It is quite handy, fits in the pocket, and offers a volume option as well as different hearing programs.
In the test, we found no option for voice control. While this function is not absolutely necessary, we would have appreciated it nonetheless. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of the finger, without the need to press a button. However, this feature has not yet been implemented here.
As is common today, we also find a smartphone app for the Insio 3 AX Charge&Go. This app includes solid basic functions and adds a few extra goodies. For our digital everyday life, a streaming option would not be bad. The device at hand meets our request and comes with a 2.4 GHz wireless module. This allows phone calls and sounds to be sent directly from the smartphone to the hearing aids.

Another point on our checklist is handling. Does everything work easily and reliably? What does the hearing aid offer to ensure secure usage in everyday life? Hearing is greatly facilitated by good situational awareness. In the Insio 3 AX Charge&Go, we found a fairly solid automation that handles the most common hearing situations well. This could be sufficient if the acoustic conditions are not too challenging. Some people struggle with the adjustment, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume. There is an adjustment manager that gradually leads us to the required target amplification. The period can range from a few weeks to several months; this is individually configurable. The individual levels are so small that you don't even notice that there was a volume increase.
The Insio 3 AX Charge&Go is rechargeable and does not require batteries anymore. This is not only environmentally friendly, but also very convenient in handling and frees me from the burden of constantly thinking about battery replacements.
Unfortunately, this hearing aid does not have any special protection against incoming dust or moisture; in any case, there is no certification that defines the robustness of the device. It may not be very suitable for an active everyday life.

Lastly, we are interested in whether there are any additional goodies: Signia has integrated a noise generator that plays soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can help distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
A true added value is the remote maintenance service. For a change in hearing aid settings, one no longer needs to go to the specialty store but can directly contact the acoustician through the app. Via a cloud service, the new data package can then be loaded into the hearing aids. This is exactly what we expect from a modern hearing aid.
For health-conscious individuals, there is a small special feature in the Insio 3 AX Charge&Go: health tracking. For example, steps can be counted throughout the day, and feedback can be received about one's activity level. Sensors in the hearing aid track individual data, which can then be accessed in the app. The device from Signia focuses on essential hearing functions and does not offer extras like voice assistants or translation functions. Although that would have been fun, it is not necessary for a good listening experience.
