The Signia Pure 1 AX Charge&Go T in review

Diese Technik ist bereits etwas veraltet und erhält daher einen Abzug in der Gesamtbewertung. Neuer und besser ist der aktuelle Signia IX-Chip.

Signia presents the Pure 1 AX Charge&Go T, a model from a solid mid-range price category. It can compensate for moderate, severe, and changing hearing losses. It is a discreet hearing aid that delivers good sound through the receiver (= speaker) that is placed directly in the ear canal. It is worn behind the ear.

Hearing comfort

The comfort features determine how pleasant hearing is experienced in everyday life. In this hearing aid, we find only the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. A classic noise suppression is intended to reduce annoying background noises to a manageable level. In the Pure 1 AX Charge&Go T, the manufacturer has integrated standard noise suppression. It operates in the background but cannot be further adjusted. Wind noise is another issue. Many people like to spend time outdoors and are then slightly disturbed by the wind. Unfortunately, there is no wind management here, so one simply has to endure the sounds of air movement.

Even in more affordable hearing aids, we often find a damping feature for impulsive, rattling noises nowadays. However, this clever tool is unfortunately not included here, which is very unfortunate. We have to forgo spatial hearing with the Pure 1 AX Charge&Go T, but at least the microphones can be switched to a focus mode. The 8 frequency channels are okay. However, it may be that the programming for individual hearing needs is not quite as precise and one might have to make some sound quality compromises.

Sometimes, the hearing care professional is not nearby when a hearing problem arises. The Pure 1 AX Charge&Go T helps you with its app, as there's a special assistant that makes a precise adjustment to your hearing moment based on artificial intelligence.

Rating Hearing comfort: 4,8

Operation & connectivity

The operation options of hearing aids today are as simple or as complex as one would like. The basic functions, of course, run fully automatically. We wanted to know how users can additionally access the Pure 1 AX Charge&Go T. A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and one can set it louder or quieter in several steps. Additional programs for specific hearing situations can also be activated with it. Those who want to forgo the button can simply have it deactivated. A remote control is available for the Pure 1 AX Charge&Go T. It's quite practical, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume option as well as various hearing programs.

For some time now, there has been a trend to adjust hearing aids louder or quieter using voice commands. The idea is really good, but Signia has not reached that point with this device yet. Don’t worry, this feature would be nice but is not essential. There is no control of the hearing aids with a simple tap in this Signia model, as it would have required specific sensors in the casing.

Manual operation includes an app. This allows for discreet access to the hearing aid. Besides volume control, one can also adjust hearing programs and a few other functions. Headphones are no longer needed here, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone to the ears—if the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

Rating Operation & connectivity: 2,0

Simplicity & security

Usability is the next aspect we want to focus on. This is about everyday practicality and the question of how easy and safe it is to go about life with a hearing aid. In terms of ease of hearing, we do not compromise. We expect the hearing aid to work fully automatically in the background without requiring us to constantly press any buttons. We are a bit disappointed with the Pure 1 AX Charge&Go T in this regard. Only basic situations are automatically recognized. This means that we cannot really get by without manual operating options. The integrated acclimatization manager can be of great help when entering the world of hearing aids. Its task is to gradually increase the volume of the hearing aid in tiny increments until the target volume is reached. This way, you can gradually and comfortably get used to the new auditory experiences. More information on acclimatization and other hearing aids with this feature can be found here: Acclimatization to Hearing Aids.

For easy handling in everyday life, energy supply is definitely an important factor. The Pure 1 AX Charge&Go T has a built-in rechargeable battery. Since one charge lasts for the entire day, we do not have to worry about the battery running out in the middle of a conversation.

The data sheet certifies the Signia device with an IP protection class of 68. This makes it one of the most robust hearing aids on the market. Dust has no chance, and water does not penetrate the housing, unless submerged deeper than 1.5 meters. However, be cautious. For example, shampoo alters the surface tension of water. You should also avoid saltwater. In everyday life, however, you can behave completely carefree.

Extras

Finally, let's take a quick look to see if there are any extras: A tinnitus program would be an additional bonus. Many people suffering from ear noise could benefit from that. Unfortunately, the Pure 1 AX Charge&Go T does not have a tinnitus option and loses a few points in the test.

A very good additional benefit is provided by the offer of remote maintenance. Through the app, you can contact your audiologist and describe your hearing problem. They can adjust the settings accordingly and load them into the hearing aids via the app. For people with limited time or a long commute, this is a great service.

Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Signia model lacks the sensors for this service. The device from Signia focuses on essential hearing functions and does not offer extras like voice assistants or translation features. While that would have been enjoyable, it is not necessary for a good listening experience.

Rating Extras: 3,3

Conclusion: Signia Pure 1 AX Charge&Go T

This test device ranks in the lower positions overall and lacks some equipment features. We award a grade of 3.98. This is acceptable for less demanding listeners, but for a very active lifestyle, we recommend a hearing aid with more extensive comfort features.
