We are presented with a relatively small hearing aid at a rather affordable price, worn behind the ear. By placing the small speaker in the ear canal, the foundation for good hearing success is laid, as the sound has a very short distance to travel to the eardrum. This ensures that all sounds arrive exactly where we want them to.

Hearing comfort
In the first chapter, we assess the quality of noise management. We call it hearing comfort, as these features determine how pleasant the hearing aid user perceives the sound of their hearing aids. However, noises can be of various natures and require entirely different tools for suppression. With the Pure 1 IX Charge&Go, we find only the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. First, we consider noise suppression, which is meant to tame everyday sounds like ventilation or refrigerator noise. This Signia model features standard noise reduction, which is not specially configurable. You will need to see if that is sufficient for you.
The impulse sound management in this device is not really recommendable. Short, loud noises still sound quite harsh. There is a basic wind noise reduction. Outside, this can be quite useful, but it isn’t sufficient for a stronger autumn wind. Let’s briefly look at the equalizer: with 8 bands, it is not particularly flexible. With a few more channels, we would surely have achieved a nicer, more natural sound experience. But at least we can reasonably adjust the sound to our hearing perception. A natural spatial hearing is lacking in this device, and this indeed causes some difficulties in everyday life. We can no longer reliably perceive directions. Anyone with limited eyesight should consider opting for a different hearing aid.
The app also includes a special help feature based on artificial intelligence. This allows you to find a very personal setting for your hearing aids that significantly enhances hearing comfort in a specific moment or typical situation.

Operation & connectivity
Every person has their own unique hearing needs. It is advantageous if one can customize their hearing aids beyond the automatic functions. In our test, we discovered the following access options: The simplest way to operate is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has that too. It can be programmed according to your preferences. Do you desire a manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for a gradual adjustment of the volume. Or do you need different special programs for your workday or hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. If you prefer to keep everything in automatic mode, you can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. A very practical feature is the small remote control that is available as an option. For us, it’s one of the most convenient ways to adjust the hearing aid volume or switch to another hearing program. No one notices, and there’s no need to touch your ear.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but this one from Signia unfortunately cannot yet. That would be practical for those whose fingers are not as mobile or for those who simply like smart gadgets. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, a tap control could be conceivable, which would trigger a specific function by tapping your fingers on your ear. However, this option is not available in the Pure 1 IX Charge&Go.
The app is definitely very useful. Anyone with a smartphone should download it. Even though the app is not one of our favorites, it is still a valuable addition to the Pure 1 IX Charge&Go. The Pure 1 IX comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows us to enjoy stereo phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over normal hearing individuals. We think that's great and gladly give points.

No matter how great the hearing aid sounds: nothing is more uncomfortable than a product that constantly presents us with hurdles in everyday life. That's why simplicity and safety are very important topics in our hearing aid tests: we don't necessarily experience simple, comfortable hearing with the Pure 1 IX Charge&Go. In a quieter everyday life, one can manage, but as soon as there is a varied listening environment, manual adjustment becomes necessary. We are very pleased with the integrated adaptation manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new auditory impressions.
The Pure 1 IX Charge&Go is rechargeable and no longer requires hearing aid batteries. This is environmentally friendly, as there are no old batteries that need to be disposed of. At the same time, it's also extremely convenient, as no spare batteries need to be carried. The hearing aids simply go into the charging station at night and are ready to use the next morning.
The hearing aid has been classified into IP protection class 68. This guarantees comprehensive protection against dust ingress. Water also cannot easily harm the hearing aid. Thus, it is well-equipped for outdoor activities, where it can get wet and dirty. However, you should still not necessarily bathe or swim with the hearing aids. Bath additives or the salt content in seawater can alter the composition and ultimately cause damage.

We have covered the most important factors in our test report. Before we conclude, we are on the lookout for a few extras: We were really impressed by the optional tinnitus program. There are quite a few people who are occasionally or frequently troubled by a ringing or buzzing in their ears. The tinnitus program in the Pure 1 IX Charge&Go is actually nothing more than a sound generator. It aims to produce broadband noises or sounds that gently and pleasantly stimulate all hearing ranges. The tinnitus fades into the background and is no longer perceived as disturbing.
We really appreciate the possibility of remote adjustment. This is very helpful when you just want to make a small change to the hearing aid settings but don't want to travel to the audiologist. Instead, you contact them via the app, and the hearing professional sends back a customized data package in the same way.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Signia model lacks the sensors for this service. This Signia hearing aid does not have any additional lifestyle options. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you do not need that for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
