Here we take a look at a hearing aid from the lower mid-range that is worn behind the ear. It is called Pure 2 X 312T and comes from the manufacturer Signia. It can be used by anyone with almost any hearing requirement who desires a small mini hearing aid. Due to the inconspicuous arrangement of the speakers in the ear towards the eardrum, it has very good sound properties.

Hearing comfort

First, we looked at the comfort features. The better these are, the easier and more pleasant the listening experience becomes. For this hearing aid, we found only a few options for influencing comfort. The traditional noise reduction reduces uniform, unimportant sounds a bit. The Pure 2 X 312T has a rather simple form of noise suppression that should be sufficient for normal environments. When it comes to wind noise suppression, we are dealing with a relatively simple wind damper.

According to the manufacturer, impulse sound suppression is integrated, but we could hardly feel it. We are quite far from a 3D sound experience here. Only the switchable forward focus provides a bit of hearing assistance in company. The number of equalizer bands is very important for adjusting to hearing needs. The 312T only offers 8 and does not allow for many fine-tuning options in the long run.

Despite modern comfort features, tricky hearing situations can still arise. For this, the Pure 2 X 312T has an assistance mode in its app. Behind this is an artificial intelligence that analyzes the current environment and calculates a noticeably better setting.

“Can I make adjustments to my hearing aid myself?” “Is there perhaps an app?” These and similar questions are becoming increasingly important when choosing a hearing aid, which is why we'll take a look at the control and connection options. Most hearing aids have a button, and we found one on the Pure 2 X as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button and can also be disabled if desired. Those who prefer not to touch their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for convenient and discreet adjustments to the hearing aid.

Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but unfortunately, this one from Signia cannot yet. It would be practical when fingers are not as nimble, or if one simply enjoys smart gadgets. Tap Control would also have been an interesting feature. With it, one could change the function with a quick tap on the ear. However, this is not available in the Pure 2 X 312T yet.

In the App Store, we also find a suitable application from Signia. The app for the Pure 2 X 312T isn't one of our highlights, but it has everything you need for your hearing systems. The Pure 2 X comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows us the enjoyment of binaural phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over normal hearing individuals. We think that's good and are happy to give it points.

Simplicity & security

Now let's take a look at how the usage is designed in everyday life. Is the handling easy? Do I get a safe device? In terms of automatic situation recognition, we would have expected a bit more support in everyday hearing situations. The situations "Quiet" and "Noise" are recognized, but most of the time the noise environment is a bit more complex. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions.

Unfortunately, Pure 2 X 312T is not equipped with a battery, so regular size 312 batteries are needed for operation.

The Pure 2 X is almost dust- and water-resistant and, with its IP 68 classification, is certainly well protected against external influences.

Extras

Finally, let's take a quick look to see if there are any extras: A special tinnitus program can be programmed in the Pure 2 X 312T upon request. This allows for the generation of stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from the tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and happily award extra points.

The ability to adjust settings remotely is something we really like. It is very helpful whenever you want to make a small change to the hearing aid settings but don’t want to drive to the audiologist. Instead, you can initiate contact through the app, and the hearing professional sends back an adjusted data package in the same way.

Many hearing aids today still have a few health functions included. However, since the Pure 2 X 312T does not have any special sensors for this, we cannot present any particular features here. The hearing aid does without additional functions such as special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or language translators. This is not a big deal, as it does not affect the important hearing functions.
