This test report is about the Pure 5 X Charge&Go. It was developed by Signia and covers light, moderate, and severe hearing needs. This variant is worn behind the ear. Pure 5 X Charge&Go is a small hearing aid from the premium price range. We achieve clean sound transmission through the cleverly chosen placement of the speaker in the ear canal.
Hearing comfort
In the Hearing Comfort section, we look at how a hearing aid manages all the background noise. Comfortable noise management contributes significantly to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. With this Signia device, the manufacturer provides the customer with comprehensive noise management. The regular noise suppression is designed to dampen uniform, rumbling background noises. The Pure 5 X Charge&Go features impressive, well-functioning noise reduction.
The suppression of short, loud sound events has convinced us here; it is quite powerful. The Pure 5 X Charge&Go impresses us with its wind reduction and offers good performance in that regard. Spatial hearing works very reliably. Directional hearing is supported, and the spatial impression is good. A high number of frequency bands assist in the separation of speech and noise. The Pure 5 X Charge&Go definitely stands out with its 16 bands.
An additional tool for improving hearing comfort can be found in the Signia app. There, artificial intelligence uses the preferences of thousands of other hearing aid users to generate a tailored setting for a specific hearing situation.

Operation & connectivity
The operation options for hearing aids today are as simple or as complex as anyone would like. The basic functions operate fully automatically, of course. We wanted to know how users could additionally access the Pure 5 X Charge&Go. Usually, there is a button on the hearing aid, and we found one on the Pure 5 X as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button and can also be disabled if desired. Those who do not like to touch their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for convenient and discreet changes to the hearing aid.
Voice commands are a fairly new way to operate hearing aids. However, in this model, we do not have that option yet. That’s not too bad – as long as you can hear well. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of a finger, without the need to press a button. However, this feature has not been implemented here yet.
An app on the smartphone is supposed to make operation easier, and we found one for the Pure 5 X Charge&Go as well. In addition to the basic functions like volume and programs, we also find a few more buttons for personalization. You no longer need headphones here, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds from the smartphone directly into your ears – if the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its suitability for everyday use. This includes automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. The Pure 5 X Charge&Go automatically accesses the most important hearing settings, making daily use easier. However, those who experience frequently changing acoustic environments should consider configuring the manual additional programs. The device supports the adjustment to the new hearing experience with a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely noticeable steps until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I don't have to do anything other than wear my hearing aids regularly.
A great relief in everyday life is the integrated battery. With this, my Pure 5 X Charge&Go always has enough energy for the entire day, and I no longer have to worry about the batteries suddenly running out in the middle of an event. Also, for those with limited dexterity, a battery system is very helpful, as there is no need to insert small button cells.
The Pure 5 X is nearly dust and water resistant and, with its IP 68 classification, is certainly well protected against external influences.

Lastly, we are interested in whether there are some additional goodies: Here we noticed the tinnitus option. Those who wish can have a special tinnitus program set up. This gently masks the sound of tinnitus to provide some distraction. The sounds can be customized to personal hearing preferences.
A very good added benefit is provided by the remote maintenance service. Through the app, users can contact their audiologist and describe their hearing issue. The audiologist can then adjust the settings accordingly and upload them to the hearing aids via the app. This is a great service for people with limited time or long travel distances.
There are no sensors in this Pure 5 X variant, so the popular health tracking feature cannot be offered. This would typically track steps throughout the day. As mentioned, this hearing aid does not have this function onboard. It would have been nice to have some lifestyle functions, but those are not available in the Pure 5 X Charge&Go. Other hearing aids may offer features like speech translation or fall alerts, but here it stays within the usual functionality.
