Signia presents the Silk 2 X CIC, a model from the lower mid-range. It can compensate for mild to moderate hearing loss. It is a fine little hearing aid that delivers good sound due to its audiologically sensible wearing location directly in the ear canal. It is worn in the ear.
Hearing comfort
The comfort features determine how pleasant hearing is experienced in everyday life. In this hearing aid, we found only limited options for influencing comfort. A classic noise suppression should reduce annoying background noises to a tolerable level. In the Silk 2 X CIC, we are not exactly spoiled, but we can manage well with simple noise suppression. For active outdoor fans, we always find wind noise management useful. While this device does have one, it is not very powerful. It also cannot be individually adjusted.
Impulse noises are identified and reliably dampened. This is noticeable, for example, with typical kitchen noises, or also with paper rustling or keyboard typing. With the Silk 2 X CIC, you don’t have to reconstruct 3D hearing, as it remains completely normal. This is made possible by the deep fit in the ear canal. With 8 frequency bands, we are not entirely satisfied with the CIC, but for uncomplicated hearing curves, it should suffice. The sound will likely not be completely natural with this.
The signal processing is based, among other things, on typical frequency patterns of speech and noise, but artificial intelligence is not yet in use here.

Operation & connectivity
How can you make the most of the potential of hearing aids in everyday life? We have found out what access options the Silk 2 X CIC offers. First, we are interested in whether there is a button on the device. Unfortunately, with the CIC, we are disappointed; there is no immediate adjustment option. We do like the small remote controls, and we have found one for this model. This way, you can discreetly make small changes to the volume or sound.
In the test, we found no option for voice control. This function is not necessarily required, but we would have appreciated it nonetheless. Tap Control would have also been an interesting feature. With that, you can change the function with a quick tap on the ear. However, this is not available with the Silk 2 X CIC yet.
We find the app for the Silk 2 X CIC to be somewhat sparse. It’s best to check the demo version before purchasing the hearing aid to see if it meets your needs. But we do not want to complain; the app is definitely useful. Unfortunately, wireless connection options are completely absent in this version. This is not quite up to date, but it is likely due to the small size of the hearing aid.

Simplicity & security
User-friendliness is the next aspect we want to address. This concerns everyday usability and the question of how easy and safe it is to navigate life with the hearing aid. We do not necessarily experience simple, comfortable hearing with the Silk 2 X CIC. It can be manageable in a quieter everyday life, but as soon as one has a varied hearing experience, manual adjustments become necessary. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually acclimatize to the new auditory impressions.
Unfortunately, the Silk 2 X CIC is not equipped with a rechargeable battery, so regular size 10 batteries are required for operation.
Unfortunately, this hearing aid does not have any special protection against incoming dust or moisture; in any case, there is no certification that defines the robustness of the device. It may not be very suitable for an active lifestyle.

Finally, let's take a quick look at whether there are any extras: Signia has integrated a sound generator that plays soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a little more relaxation.
Online services are becoming increasingly commonplace. There is often a remote maintenance service for hearing aids as well. However, Signia has not provided this for its Silk 2 X CIC yet. So you have to go to the specialized store every time you want to have your hearing aid programmed differently. No extra point for that.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Signia model lacks the sensors for this service. It would have been nice to have some lifestyle features, but they are not available in the Silk 2 X CIC. Other hearing aids may impress with features like language translation or fall alerts, but here it remains with the usual range of functions.

In summary, this device ranks in the lower positions and delivers hardly more than a solid basic equipment.
