In the Hearing Comfort section, we look at how a hearing aid deals with all the background noise. Comfortable noise management significantly contributes to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. In this Unitron device, we found only a few options for comfort adjustment. The regular noise suppression aims to attenuate consistent, random background noises. In the B Insera 1 312 NW O, there is only a minimal basic reduction. A certain tolerance for noise is something the hearing aid wearer should already have.
Cracking, metallic noises stand no chance in this hearing aid; they are significantly reduced using a multi-stage tool. Unitron is sure to impress all outdoor fans with this device, as wind is not only pleasantly dampened, but speech understanding should also continue to function without issues. Spatial hearing would still be an important point, but not much can be said about this feature in the Unitron hearing aid. There are no special functions that can support or replicate spatial hearing in any way. This is something to consider, especially if one frequently spends time outdoors in public spaces. With 12 frequency bands, one can achieve a fairly good sound. A passionate musician may not be entirely satisfied with this, but for normal hearing and sound needs, this number is more than sufficient.
The signal processing is based, among other things, on typical frequency patterns of speech and noise, but artificial intelligence is not yet in use here.

Operation & connectivity
Every person has their own individual hearing needs. It is advantageous if one can customize their hearing aids beyond the automatic functions. In our test, we discovered the following access options: First, we found a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very sensible, as it is the easiest and fastest way to make adjustments. The volume can be adjusted with it, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If one prefers not to adjust anything directly at the ear, the button can of course be disabled. The small remote control, which is available as an option, is very practical. For us, it is one of the most convenient ways to turn the hearing aid up or down or to switch to another hearing program. No one notices it, and there is no need to reach for the ear.
In our test, we did not find a way to control the hearing aid by voice. This function is not necessarily required, but we would have appreciated it. Besides buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids have a tap control. This means you can simply tap your ear briefly, and then the device switches. However, we do not have this feature at Unitron; it would have required specific sensors.
An additional app for individual control would be nice, but it is currently not offered for this hearing aid. The smartphone cannot be connected to the hearing aid, as the corresponding equipment with a radio antenna is unfortunately missing.

An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its practicality for everyday use. This includes, for example, automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. We would have liked the B Insera 1 312 NW O to have a program automation that adapts itself to the environment. However, this is not available, so unfortunately, points are deducted at this point. A great feature of this hearing aid is the automatic acclimatization. Especially when someone has had poor hearing for a long time and then wears a hearing aid for the first time, this is an enormous relief. The volume does not have to be turned up fully right away. One can start at a lower level and gradually and almost unnoticed, the amplification approaches the target.
Many hearing aids today come with a rechargeable battery, but the B Insera 1 312 NW O continues to operate with disposable batteries. This is somewhat cumbersome to handle and also puts additional strain on the environment.
For a secure feeling in everyday life, a solid dust and moisture protection is also important. However, there is no IP certification for this. Presumably, this model is not really well-equipped against intrusive dust or moisture. This is not up to date and results in points being deducted.

Unfortunately, this service is not available for the B Insera 1 312 NW O. Therefore, any requests for changes still require a visit to the specialist store.
