Unitron presents the B Moxi 1 R T, a model from the more affordable category. It can compensate for moderate, severe, and changing hearing losses. It is a slightly visible hearing aid that provides good sound through the speaker positioned directly in the ear canal. It is worn behind the ear.

Hearing comfort

Hearing aids should not only transmit speech to the ear, but also sound pleasant. So first, let's take a look at the comfort features. What types of noise does the hearing aid recognize? Are they muffled or transmitted unchanged? Is the hearing aid suitable for an active daily life? Here, with this test device, a solid comfort programming is possible through the audiologist. As in every hearing aid, typical noise suppression is also included here. It is designed to reduce uniform, noisy ambient sounds to such an extent that they no longer dominate. For the B Moxi 1 R T, the manufacturer has integrated a simple noise reduction, but it cannot be adjusted further.

The manual operation includes an app. This allows for discreet access to the hearing aid. In addition to volume control, you can also set hearing programs and a few other functions. We had a lot of fun with the direct, wireless streaming. This means that phone calls from the smartphone can be transmitted to the hearing aids without additional accessories. This turns the hearing aid into a perfect hands-free device or wireless headphones. Listening to music or watching and hearing videos is incredibly comfortable.

Simplicity & security

Of course, we are also interested in how quickly one can get used to the B Moxi 1 R T and how easy daily use is. We would have liked a program automation in the B Moxi 1 R T that adjusts itself to the environment. However, that does not exist, so unfortunately, points are deducted at this point. Very important in terms of simplicity is the support during acclimatization. Especially after hearing poorly for years, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a natural sound level. In our test device, there is an acclimatization manager that helps us through the adjustment phase with very small volume adjustments. After a few weeks or months, we reached the calculated amplification level.

The B Moxi 1 R T is rechargeable and no longer requires hearing aid batteries. This is environmentally friendly because there are no old batteries to dispose of. At the same time, it is also extremely convenient, as no replacement batteries need to be carried. The hearing aids simply go into the charging station in the evening and are ready for use the next morning.

The B Moxi 1 is nearly dustproof and waterproof, and with its IP 68 classification, it is certainly well protected against external influences.

Extras

Everyone appreciates a few extra features, so let's see if we can find any here: Worth mentioning is the tinnitus program. Those who are plagued by annoying ear noises will benefit from it. Pleasant, quiet sounds are adjusted to gently envelope the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus fades into the background noise and becomes hardly noticeable.

The remote maintenance service provides real added value. To change the hearing aid settings, it is no longer necessary to go to the specialist store, as you can directly contact the audiologist through the app. Then, via a cloud service, you can load the new data package into the hearing aids. This is exactly what we expect from a modern hearing aid.

Some hearing aids can track specific health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the B Moxi 1 R T. It would have been nice to have some lifestyle features, but they are not available in the B Moxi 1 R T. Other hearing aids can score points with language translators or fall alarms, but here we are limited to the usual range of functions.

Thanks to the integrated telephone coil, you receive good support here at public events or in churches - the microphone's signal is transmitted directly to your hearing aids via a loop system. Provided that such a system is installed in the room and you are seated within the transmission area.
