The Unitron DX Moxi 3 Jump R T in review

We tested a discreet hearing aid this time from an affordable price range. It is the Unitron DX Moxi 3 Jump R T. It is worn behind the ear and is designed for mild, moderate, and also severe hearing losses. The innovative placement of the speaker directly in the ear canal is thanks to its design, which also provides a nice, clear sound.
Hearing comfort
Hearing comfort determines whether someone enjoys wearing their hearing aids or not. That's why we first looked at how the hearing aid handles background noise. With this model, presented by Unitron, a solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional is possible. Of course, noise suppression is integrated to reduce tiring background noises. The noise suppression in the DX Moxi 3 Jump R T is solid. There are hearing aids that have a significantly more effective reduction, but this one should be sufficient for normal needs. A multi-level wind noise management system is also included. This ensures that hearing outdoors remains pleasant and free from disturbances.
Short and sharp sounds are often bothersome, but this model has an adjustable impulse sound control. This makes sounds like cutlery clattering, slamming drawers, or rustling newspapers less unpleasant. We cannot produce true 3D sound with the current test device. Especially outdoors, one should often look around to locate individual sound sources. However, focusing on a specific speaker works quite well with the integrated directional microphones. Although the DX Moxi 3 Jump R T doesn't have a lot of adjustable equalizer bands, the 12 available should suffice for a good listening experience.
Other hearing aids already use artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but the DX Moxi 3 Jump R T does not yet incorporate this strategy.

Unitron DX Moxi 3 Jump R T:
Operation & connectivity
“Can I adjust something on my hearing aid myself?” “Is there perhaps an app?” These and similar questions are becoming increasingly important when selecting a hearing aid, which is why we will take a look at the operating and connection options. For those who want to quickly and easily increase or decrease the volume, there is a button on the device. You can also select other programs for special hearing situations through this. The small remote control, which is available as an option, is very practical. For us, it is one of the most convenient ways to turn the hearing aid up or down or switch to another hearing program. No one notices, and there’s no need to reach for the ear.
The modern form of voice command operation is not yet found in the DX Moxi 3 Jump R T. This Unitron model does not have control of the hearing aids with a simple tap of the finger because it would have required specific sensors in the housing.
An app on the smartphone is supposed to make operation easier, and we have found one for the DX Moxi 3 Jump R T as well. In addition to basic functions like volume and programs, we find a few more buttons for personalization. Problems when calling with the smartphone are a thing of the past with this device. Phone calls, music, and other sounds are transmitted completely wirelessly to the hearing aids. Headphones become unnecessary. We tested the wireless transmission during longer phone calls and while listening to music during sports. Everything worked simply and smoothly. Only a suitable smartphone with 2.4 GHz wireless technology is required.

Simplicity & security
An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its usability in everyday life. This includes automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. The DX Moxi 3 Jump R T can independently differentiate between quiet and loud environments, but there is not much more to the program automation. Manual adjustment options are hardly avoidable here. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new auditory experiences.
A charger is included with the DX Moxi 3 Jump R T, as it has built-in batteries. This is contemporary, user-friendly, and we expect this from a modern hearing aid.
We also take a look at the robustness of the case and discover in the datasheet the protection class IP 68. This means that dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes dangerous after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.
Rating Simplicity & security: 1,8
Extras
Finally, let's take a quick look to see if there are any additional features: Here we noticed the tinnitus option. If desired, one can have a special tinnitus program set up. This can provide a gentle noise in the ears to help distract from the annoying tinnitus. The sounds can be tailored to personal hearing preferences.
We find the remote maintenance service exciting, which can be utilized. If one doesn't have the opportunity to visit the hearing care professional, they can contact them via the app, briefly describe their hearing problem, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they can upload it to their hearing aids.
A new trend in the hearing aid industry is integrated sensors that can track some personal health data, for example. However, the DX Moxi 3 Jump R T does not offer this. This Unitron hearing aid does not have any additional lifestyle options. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but these are not necessary for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
