Hearing comfort

In the test, we discovered the following access options: There is usually a button on the hearing aid, and we found one on the V Moxi 1 as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button and can also be deactivated if desired. A remote control is available for the V Moxi 1 R. It is quite handy, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume option as well as various hearing programs.

Voice commands are a rather new way to operate hearing aids. However, we do not have this option in this model yet. That's not a big deal - the important thing is that one can hear well. Tap Control would also have been an interesting feature. With this, you can change the function with a quick tap on the ear. But this is still not available in the V Moxi 1 R.

As is common today, we also find a smartphone app for the V Moxi 1 R. This app includes solid basic functions and adds a few goodies on top. One of the best features of the hearing aid is the direct streaming function. This turns the hearing aid into a TrueWireless headset, receiving phone calls and other sounds directly in the ear. The prerequisite is a compatible smartphone that contains 2.4 GHz technology. The biggest advantage is that you can hear phone calls not only in one ear but in both. Additionally, the sound can be tailored to personal needs.

Let’s continue with the test: How is the user-friendliness? Is it easy or complicated to handle the hearing aid? When it comes to relaxed listening, the V Moxi 1 R is only simple if you are mostly in quiet listening environments. If it gets louder or more challenging, we do not receive support from adaptive situational automatics. If at all, you can only help yourself with manual controls. Some people struggle with getting used to it, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume. There is a comfort manager that gradually guides us to the required target amplification. The period can last from a few weeks to several months, which is individually adjustable. The individual steps are so small that you don't even notice that there has been a volume increase.

An extremely useful development in recent years is, in our opinion, the integrated battery. We are used to recharging electronic devices in our everyday lives. And the V Moxi 1 R is also rechargeable, so we can do away with the annoying battery changes.

We also take a look at the robustness of the housing and find in the data sheet the protection class IP 68. This means that dust cannot penetrate, and water only becomes dangerous after prolonged submersion. A protection against contacts is also included.

Everyone appreciates a few extra features, so let's see if we can find some here: A special tinnitus program can be programmed in the V Moxi 1 R upon request. This can generate stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from the tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and are happy to award extra points.

We really like the remote adjustment feature. It is very helpful whenever you want to make a small change to the hearing aid settings but don't want to drive to the audiologist. Instead, you make contact via the app, and the hearing professional sends back an adjusted data package in the same way.

Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Unitron model lacks the sensors for this service. The Unitron device focuses on essential hearing functions and does not offer extras like voice assistants or translation functions. While that would have been fun, it is not necessary for a good hearing experience.
