The Unitron V Moxi 5 RS in review
Could this hearing aid from the Unitron program be the right choice for you? In our test report on the V Moxi 5 RS, we have highlighted the most important aspects. We get a nice, discreet hearing aid in a high-quality level that is worn behind the ear. By placing the small speaker in the ear canal, the foundation for good hearing success is established, as the sound has only a very short path to the eardrum. This way, all tones really reach the places where we want them to.
The V Moxi 5 RS provides sufficient amplification for mild, moderate, and even severe hearing needs.
Hearing comfort
Right from the start, we focus on the topic of hearing comfort. By this, we mean all the features that ensure a completely pleasant, rich, and interference-free sound. In the V Moxi 5 RS, the manufacturer provides the customer with a comprehensive noise management system.
The classic noise suppression is, of course, also present here. Its task is to recognize and slightly reduce simple noises from the surroundings. In this Unitron model, there is a quite effective noise reduction. Extremely useful is the impulse sound suppression. It captures all the clattering, popping, and crackling noises and reliably reduces them.
Some hearing aids reach their limits when the wind sweeps over the microphones outside. That can get quite loud. But Unitron has something to counter this, namely a strongly dampening, adjustable wind noise suppression. It works very well and helps all those who enjoy being outdoors. Adaptive microphone systems facilitate spatial hearing. However, one must get accustomed to the new sound; especially at the beginning, it may not always be clear where a sound is coming from. 16 adjustable equalizer bands provide enough leeway to generate a reliable, precise listening experience. By the way, you may perceive the sound from this Unitron device as clearer and more natural, especially in noisy environments. This is likely due to the implemented artificial intelligence. The hearing aid has already been fed millions of real sounds, leading to a significantly improved distinction between speech and noise.

Operation & connectivity
Would you like to be able to adjust something on your hearing aids yourself? We think it can be quite useful to have one or two control options. Let’s take a look at how it is with the V Moxi 5 RS. A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It’s easy to feel, and you can increase or decrease the volume in several steps. Additionally, extra programs for special hearing situations can be activated with it. If you want to do without the button, you can simply have it deactivated. If desired, there is a remote control for the hearing aid. This allows you to effortlessly adjust the volume. The handling is not only child’s play, but no one will notice that you are just adjusting your hearing aids.
Sometimes it's just impractical to first take out your smartphone or the remote control. Here, voice control proves to be a clever alternative. Even with limited dexterity, operating by voice command can be a real help. More and more functionalities found in hearing aids are being borrowed from other areas. Here in the V Moxi 5 RS, it is the tap control. It is enough to briefly tap the outer ear with your fingers or flat hand, and a command will be triggered. This could be, for example, the start of transmission from the TV adapter. Your hearing care professional will help you select the appropriate function.
In the App Store, we also find a suitable application from Unitron. The app for the V Moxi 5 RS is not among our highlights, but it has everything you need for your hearing systems. One of the best features in the hearing aid is the direct streaming function. This turns the hearing aid into a TrueWireless headphone, receiving phone calls and other sounds directly in the ear. The prerequisite is a compatible smartphone that includes 2.4 GHz technology. The greatest advantage is that you can hear phone calls not just in one ear but in both. Additionally, the sound can be tailored to personal needs.

Simplicity & security
We continue the test with a brief assessment of how easy everyday use will be. Is it complicated? Do I need to be particularly careful? Or do I not have to consider anything further? Typical listening situations that everyone experiences in their environment are reliably recognized and adjusted through automatic settings. However, for more specialized, recurring requirements, one cannot avoid using the manual hearing programs. The adjustment to the new hearing experience is supported by this device with a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely noticeable steps until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I don't have to do anything other than regularly wear my hearing aids.
The V Moxi 5 RS comes with a charger, as it has built-in batteries. This is modern, user-friendly, and we expect this from a modern hearing aid.
We also take a look at the robustness of the housing and discover in the data sheet the protection class IP 68. This means that dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes a danger after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.

Unitron V Moxi 5 RS:
Extras
Sometimes it's the little things that make a hearing aid perfect. That's why we take a quick look at the extras that might be included: We noticed the tinnitus option here. Anyone who wishes can have a special tinnitus program set up. If needed, it overlays a gentle noise in the ears to distract from the annoying tinnitus. The sounds can be designed according to personal hearing preferences.
We find the remote maintenance service exciting, which can be utilized. If one doesn't have the opportunity to visit the hearing aid specialist, they can instead contact them through the app, briefly describe their hearing problem, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they can upload it to their hearing aids.
If Unitron had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individualized health tracking could even be possible. However, that's not the case here. These points are lost on the V Moxi 5 RS in the evaluation. This Unitron hearing aid has no further lifestyle options on board. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don't need that to hear well. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
